We believe in transparency around career growth. The progression from Associate Planner to Financial Planner reflects an increase in responsibility for client relationships. From day one, you’ll be client‑facing, contributing directly to meetings and financial plans. As you develop, your scope expands, and your compensation evolves in line with responsibility and experience:

  • Associate Financial Planner: base salary of £62,500 – £85,000 (junior to senior range)
  • Financial Planner: up to £130,000 (senior range)

This means that as you transition from Associate Planner to Financial Planner, your compensation could increase significantly, reflecting both progression and performance.

About The Role: Frazer James is in a strong growth phase, building capacity for the clients we expect to bring on board over the next 12–24 months. We operate two client‑facing teams (new business and servicing), supported by dedicated staff. As a small, fast‑growing company, we operate more like a start‑up than a large corporation. Processes evolve as we grow, and we’re looking for someone who sees change as an opportunity rather than a challenge.

In the first 12 months, you’ll join as an Associate Financial Planner, working alongside our Financial Planners. You’ll contribute directly to client meetings, financial plans, and follow‑up actions, while steadily building technical confidence, meaningful client exposure, and strong planning judgment. This stage is designed to expand your responsibility for client relationships over time, not to serve as a trainee track. Over the following 12 months, subject to performance, you’ll progress into a Lead Financial Planner role. You’ll take full responsibility for your own clients and lead relationships day‑to‑day, supported by a dedicated paraplanner and administrator. We take a deliberate approach to client transition, ensuring relationships are built on trust and continuity. Unlike firms that hand advisers a list of names with little context, we prioritise long‑term relationships. The Associate Financial Planner assumes greater responsibility over time, providing you and the clients with a seamless, well‑supported handover. This measured approach reflects our commitment to quality and building enduring relationships.

This is a remote‑first role within the UK, with occasional travel to Bristol for quarterly meet‑ups and occasional client meetings.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • First 12 Months:
    • Attend and actively contribute to client meetings
    • Collaborate with the Financial Planners to develop recommendations
    • Identify planning opportunities and develop recommendations
    • Coordinate implementation with administrators
    • Prepare annual reviews and meeting notes
    • Communicate with clients via email, secure messaging, phone, and meetings
    • Provide occasional paraplanning support (suitability reports, technical research)
    • Ensure files are complete, compliant, and suitable
    • Progress towards Chartered/CFP status
  • Months 12–24 – Associate Planner to Lead Planner Transition:
    • Lead client meetings with oversight and support
    • Deliver tailored advice and develop comprehensive financial plans
    • Gradually take ownership of client relationships, progressing towards managing approximately 80 ongoing client relationships as a Lead Financial Planner within 12‑24 months
    • Maintain high standards of documentation, compliance, and follow‑through
    • Continue professional development towards Chartered and or CFP status
  • Beyond 24 months – Lead Financial Planner:
    • Take full responsibility for your own client relationships
    • Manage a dedicated team, including a paraplanner and administrator
    • Contribute to the development of processes and standards as the firm scales

    The Ideal Candidate:

    • Location: Must be based in the United Kingdom. You’ll work remotely, but will be expected to travel to Bristol for quarterly in‑person team days and occasional client meetings as needed.
    • Remote‑Friendly: Previous experience working from home or in a remote role.
    • Role Experience: Minimum 4 years working within a ‘true’ financial planning firm, with prior experience across paraplanning and advisory roles.
    • Technical Skills: Strong IT skills, including experience using Google Workspace, MacOS and ChatGPT and financial planning software. Strong technical knowledge across core financial planning areas.
    • Attention to Detail: Excellent organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
    • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
    • Proactive Attitude: Self‑motivation and a proactive approach to personal learning and development.
    • Value Alignment: Strong alignment with our core values of integrity, excellence, dependability, respect, and commercial acumen.
    • Chartered/Certified Financial Planner status already achieved.
    • Solid academic background (degree preferred).
