Our client, a leading global law firm with offices in around 80 locations worldwide, is recruiting a Construction Associate to join its highly regarded Construction and Engineering Team. The role will be based in Edinburgh, with flexibility for Glasgow. The firm is recognised for its significant scale, ranking among the top firms globally by headcount and revenue.

This growing and friendly team handles complex, high-quality, non-contentious construction matters across sectors such as real estate development, public sector projects, and major investments. The successful candidate will engage extensively with clients in the UK and internationally. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating within a team to deliver high-quality, professional advice on non-contentious construction matters to clients across diverse sectors.
  • Providing guidance on different procurement strategies and advising on the use of standard form contracts—including NEC, JCT, FIDIC, and IChemE—as well as tailored agreements.
  • Working closely with clients and their professional advisors to draft and negotiate construction contracts, appointments of consultants, guarantees, bonds, collateral warranties, and various supporting documents.
  • Preparing written articles and delivering presentations at both internal and external seminars.
  • Applicants should be senior-level Lawyers with solid experience in construction law, especially non-contentious work. Experience in real estate development is beneficial. The firm offers excellent progression prospects, including a potential path to partnership, as well as hybrid working and flexible arrangements such as a four-day week.
