An established employment law practice is seeking a Head of Litigation to lead on Employment Tribunal work and manage a varied caseload for business clients across the UK. This role involves delivering high-quality representation, overseeing case strategy, and contributing to the Firm's fee targets. Alongside contentious work, you will also have opportunities to support non-contentious employment matters for retained clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of Employment Tribunal cases from start to finish
  • Draft pleadings, including ET3 responses
  • Maintain strong communication with clients, tribunals, representatives, and ACAS
  • Prepare witness statements, hearing bundles, and supporting documents
  • Produce prospects reports for instructing clients
  • Liaise with insurers where required
  • Update the legal team on case developments and client issues
  • Maintain current knowledge of case law and use internal research resources
  • Prepare for and conduct preliminary and full hearings, in person or remotely
  • Undertake judicial mediations
  • Support retained clients with non-contentious employment law and HR matters
  • Contribute to client updates, articles, and social media content
  • Promote the Firm and support business development activities
  • Maintain required CPD
  • Work flexibly when needed to meet client and Firm demands

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years' PQE, and bring strong experience in Employment Tribunal work, particularly in representing employers. Excellent time-management, organisation, and negotiation skills are essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively within a team of solicitors and contribute to shared learning. A high level of commercial awareness, combined with a proactive, client-focused approach, is key to succeeding in this role.
