An established, employee-owned multidisciplinary planning and design consultancy is seeking an experienced Planning Director to lead and further develop its Liverpool office.
Founded over 30 years ago, the business operates nationally from multiple UK locations and is recognised for delivering high-quality, tailored advice across the development sector. The Liverpool office is centrally located and serves clients across the North West and Scotland.
The Opportunity

The Role
With support from the senior management team and Board, the Director will lead the Liverpool Planning Office, further raising its profile and building on an established client base. Key aspects of the role include:
- Leadership and growth of the Liverpool planning team
- Business development and cross-selling of multidisciplinary services
- Client relationship management and retention
- Financial and performance planning for the office
- Contribution to wider company strategy and governance
The business operates as a single national team, using hybrid working and selective travel to deliver projects across the UK.
About You
You will be a qualified Town Planner with ideally 10+ yearsβ professional experience, gained within private consultancy or a mix of consultancy, public sector and client-side roles.
Essential requirements include:
- Postgraduate qualification in Planning
- Chartered Membership of the RTPI
- Proven experience leading planning projects and professional teams
You will have strong experience across development management and plan-making, including major applications, appeals, Local Plan representations, site promotion, examinations and inquiry work.
A strong client-facing profile is essential, with a demonstrable track record in business development and a clear understanding of growth sectors within the region.
