Fraser Edwards are recruiting on behalf of a leading contractor for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a successful commercial team delivering planned maintenance and refurbishment projects across the social housing sector.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded surveyor who enjoys managing refurbishment schemes from inception through to final account while working alongside experienced operational and commercial professionals.

The Opportunity

As a Quantity Surveyor, you'll take ownership of the commercial performance of a portfolio of planned works contracts, ensuring projects remain financially successful while maintaining strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and internal teams.

The role covers a range of residential improvement programmes

  • Roofing renewal projects
  • Kitchen refurbishment programmes
  • Bathroom replacement works
  • Window and door installation schemes
  • Electrical testing and compliance programmes

Working closely with the Commercial Manager, you'll help drive profitability, control costs and ensure contractual obligations are effectively managed throughout the lifecycle of each project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take commercial responsibility for multiple refurbishment projects.
  • Prepare and manage valuations, variations, applications for payment and final accounts.
  • Monitor project expenditure and identify opportunities to improve commercial performance.
  • Produce Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs) and other financial reports.
  • Procure and manage subcontractor packages, including payment certification and account settlements.

About You

To be successful in this role, you'll ideally have

  • Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within construction, maintenance or refurbishment.
  • A Quantity Surveying qualification or equivalent industry experience.
  • Strong understanding of commercial contracts and cost management principles.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and confidence analysing commercial data.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • A full UK driving licence.

Package

  • £59,000 basic salary
  • £4,000 annual car allowance
  • Annual performance-related bonus of up to 10
