The Opportunity
Working across a diverse portfolio of projects, you will be responsible for delivering consultancy services from project inception through to completion, ensuring exceptional client service and technical excellence throughout. Alongside project delivery, you will contribute to the strategic growth of the business through business development, client management, team leadership, and the development of junior professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Project & Client Leadership
- Act as the lead point of contact for clients across multiple commissions.
- Take responsibility for the successful delivery and quality of consultancy services.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within agreed parameters, and in accordance with contractual and professional obligations.
- Manage internal resources and project teams to achieve successful outcomes.
- Drive client satisfaction and secure repeat business opportunities.
- Business Development & Growth
- Lead and support bid submissions and tender opportunities.
- Develop and maintain key client relationships.
- Generate new business opportunities and secure commissions from both existing and prospective clients.
- Prepare fee proposals and contribute to commercial decision-making.
- Represent the consultancy at industry events, networking functions, and professional forums.
- Support the implementation of the company's strategic growth plans.
- Leadership & Team Development
- Mentor and develop junior team members.
- Support staff through professional qualifications, including APC pathways where applicable.
- Act as Supervisor/Counsellor for APC candidates.
- Contribute to recruitment, retention, and talent development initiatives.
- Champion best practice, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement across the business.
- Commercial & Operational Responsibilities
- Contribute to the profitability and performance of the business.
- Work towards agreed annual fee income targets.
- Support monthly invoicing and debt recovery processes.
- Assist in maintaining and improving quality management systems.
- Ensure compliance with relevant health & safety legislation and professional standards, including the RICS Code of Conduct.
About You
The successful candidate will be an experienced construction consultancy professional with strong client-facing skills, commercial awareness, and a passion for developing people. You will likely possess:
- Proven experience within a construction consultancy environment.
- Strong project delivery and client management capabilities.
- Experience leading teams and mentoring junior professionals.
- A track record of winning work and developing client relationships.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Professional membership (RICS or equivalent) or working towards chartered status.
