Senior Infrastructure Engineer – Hedge fund – London Purpose of the role: The Senior Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the company’s technology infrastructure. The successful candidate will work closely with other IT and business technology teams within the firm to provide secure, efficient, and scalable infrastructure solutions. Key responsibilities: • Implement and maintain scalable and resilient infrastructure solutions that align with the strategies and requirements of the firm’s business environment. • Take a proactive approach to cybersecurity, applying industry standard measures to safeguard the data, applications, and assets of the firm. Conduct regular assessments and analysis of the environment to better inform and drive improvement. Play an active part in defending, explaining and informing the cybersecurity position of the firm to both internal executive and external audit teams. • Maintain BAU for all firm technology infrastructure, including (but not limited to) firewalls, networks, hosting platforms and their environments and user endpoints. Ensure that the systems update regularly. Monitor solutions so that they are well maintained and functioning. • Monitor and troubleshoot infrastructure to ensure high availability and performance, addressing incidents and providing root cause analysis as required. • Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans to minimise downtime and ensure the availability of critical business systems during an event. Perform regular tests to validate the resilience and efficacy of the backup and recovery solutions and plans. Play an active part in defending, explaining and informing the Disaster Recovery and BCP solutions of the firm to both internal executive and external audit teams. • Act as a technical authority to the junior team members and other IT staff, providing technical expertise and support. • Work closely with members of the IT team and members of other business areas to understand their requirements and translate and deliver them as working solutions. Key Skills and Competencies: • Previous demonstrable experience in designing, implementing, and managing enterprise level solutions. • At least 5 years of experience in infrastructure engineering, within the asset management or financial services sector. • Strong knowledge of identity management concepts, including Single Sign-On (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and Role-Based Access Control (RBAC). • Extensive knowledge and familiarity of Office 365, PowerBI, ADD (Entra), Intune, Azure Fundamentals, the wider Microsoft Server and Application stack and Hyper-V and VMware management principles. • Proficiency in cloud specific networking technologies, server and storage systems, and cloud infrastructure (such as AWS or Azure). • Solid understanding of cyber security principles, including risk assessment, threat detection, and security frameworks. • The ability to communicate effectively and articulate complex concepts in a clear and concise manner. • Excellent problem-solving skills. • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
