🚀 Principal Technical Product Manager – Platform Engineering
Are you passionate about building developer platforms that remove friction and accelerate innovation? We’re looking for a Principal Technical Product Manager – Platform Engineering to own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for core data services that power an entire engineering organization.
This is a high-impact, strategic, and deeply technical role. You’ll shape how hundreds of engineers provision, manage, and scale their application backends – giving them the tools to build faster, safer, and smarter.
🔑 What You’ll Be Doing
- Set the Vision: Define a multi-year strategy for our platform’s core workload assets, from managed datastores (RDS, DynamoDB, Elasticache) to on-prem data solutions.
- Be the Developer Advocate: Gather feedback, run interviews, and deeply understand internal developer needs to shape a world-class experience.
- Own the Roadmap: Translate complex technical requirements into a clear backlog of user stories, epics, and deliverables — and ensure consistent value delivery.
- Champion the Platform: Evangelize platform capabilities, create documentation and best practices, and drive adoption across the engineering organization.
- Manage the Lifecycle: Evaluate emerging technologies, plan upgrades, and oversee the deprecation of legacy systems to keep the platform modern and efficient.
- Measure Impact: Define and track metrics like developer satisfaction, reliability, and cost efficiency — then use the data to improve continuously.
- Influence Across Teams: Work closely with engineering, security, compliance, and leadership to ensure solutions are secure, scalable, and aligned with business goals.
🌟 What You’ll Bring
- 5+ years in product management, ideally in developer tools, APIs, infrastructure, or platform engineering.
- Strong technical foundation with experience in software engineering, SRE, or cloud/infrastructure architecture.
- Expertise with AWS services (RDS, S3, DynamoDB, IAM, etc.) and strong knowledge of datastore technologies (SQL, NoSQL, in-memory).
- Excellent communicator — able to align technical teams, influence stakeholders, and clearly articulate strategy.
- Strategic thinker who thrives in fast-paced, high-growth environments and knows how to execute methodically.
- Bonus points: AWS certifications, experience working with global teams, and executive-level stakeholder engagement.
💼 Why You’ll Love This Role
- Strategic Ownership: You’ll be the single-threaded owner of a critical platform portfolio.
- Massive Impact: Your work directly accelerates developer productivity across the entire organization.
- Flexibility & Growth: UK-remote friendly, with opportunities to work across multiple regions and shape engineering culture.
- Strong Benefits: Competitive salary + bonus, flexible time off (\”take what you need\” policy), private medical insurance, wellness allowance, stock options, and more.
