The VMWare Consultant is responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing operation of secure, scalable, and resilient application networking and security platforms. The role spans strategic architecture, technical leadership, and hands‑on delivery, using VMware vDefend, Avi (NSX Advanced Load Balancer), and Avi WAF, aligned to Zero Trust and enterprise security principles. This position works closely with platform, security, and operations teams to ensure robust security enforcement, high availability, and continuous service improvement.
Key Responsibilities – Architecture & Design
- Identify use cases aligned to business and technical requirements
- Design application networking and security architectures using VMware vDefend and Avi
- Define and implement Zero Trust and micro‑segmentation strategies at scale
- Architect distributed Firewall and advanced threat detection integrations
- Design Avi ALB architectures for high availability, scalability, and performance
- Produce high‑level and low‑level design documentation (HLD/LLD)
- Review, govern, and approve solution designs and architectural changes
Implementation & Operations
- Operate and maintain VMware vDefend security services, including DFW, micro‑segmentation, and advanced threat protection
- Manage Avi/NSX Advanced Load Balancer platforms in production environments
- Implement, tune, and maintain Avi WAF policies to protect applications
- Monitor security events, alerts, and application traffic flows
- Perform troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and incident response
- Execute platform upgrades, patching, and policy changes
- Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and standards
Leadership & Collaboration
- Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance
- Advise on application security, Zero Trust, and industry best practices
- Collaborate with SOC, NOC, and platform teams to ensure service stability
- Drive continuous improvement of network security services
Required Skills & Experience
- Deep expertise in VMware NSX, vDefend, and Avi (NSX Advanced Load Balancer)
- Strong experience designing and operating enterprise‑scale security architectures
- Proven ability to balance security, performance, and operational complexity
- Hands‑on experience in virtualised networking environments
- Experience with hybrid and multi‑cloud network architectures
- Strong troubleshooting and incident response capabilities
- Familiarity with ITSM processes (incident, problem, and change management)
- Understanding of security monitoring, alerting, and response workflows
