You'll lead experienced managers and technical specialists, oversee major technical projects, contribute to business growth, and work closely with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders to shape future technology offerings.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor and develop the Technical Services function, driving performance and accountability.
- Define and deliver the technical strategy in line with wider business objectives.
- Contribute as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team.
- Drive continual improvement across engineering, service delivery and operational processes.
- Provide architectural oversight across networking, cloud, infrastructure and modern workplace technologies.
- Lead complex technical projects, migrations and engineering initiatives.
- Define technical standards, best practice and governance across the organisation.
- Ensure compliance with security and industry standards including ISO27001, Cyber Essentials Plus and HSCN.
- Manage key technology vendors and strategic supplier relationships.
- Act as the senior technical escalation point for major customer issues.
- Support pre‑sales activities, bid responses and solution design for strategic opportunities.
- Work closely with sales and product teams to develop and enhance service offerings.
- Champion staff development, technical training and career progression within the engineering function.
- Keep abreast of emerging technologies and market trends to help shape future strategy.
About You
We're looking for an experienced technical leader who combines strong commercial awareness with a hands‑on understanding of modern IT infrastructure and managed services.
You will ideally have experience in:
- Leading technical or engineering teams within an MSP or IT services environment.
- Developing and executing technical strategy.
- Cloud platforms (Azure and/or Microsoft 365).
- Enterprise networking and infrastructure technologies.
- Information security, governance and compliance.
- Technical architecture and solution design.
- Customer‑facing consultancy and stakeholder management.
- Vendor management and commercial negotiations.
- Delivering complex technical projects and service improvements.
You will also possess excellent communication skills, the ability to influence senior stakeholders, and a passion for developing high‑performing technical teams.
