Job Responsibilities

  • Develop fire safety strategies, reports, design notes, letters and all the necessary supporting calculations.
  • Mark up architectural drawings using Bluebeam software to show location and fire rating of fire compartments, travel distances and smoke ventilation, and other elements of fire safety as necessary.
  • Undertake calculations (by hand or using MS Excel) to estimate occupant load, exit capacities, radiant heat, smoke and temperature spread, as well as more complex smoke and evacuation modelling, detailed fire dynamics and structural assessments.
  • Review building designs and design elements to assess compliance whilst also designing fire solutions as part of the overall design team, alongside the client, architect and Statutory Authorities.
  • Attend design team meetings with clients, design teams and Statutory Authorities.
  • Develop your knowledge of fire engineering and Building Regulations to enable you to support projects in a variety of sectors.
  • Attend in-house and external training sessions and Continuous Development Programmes (CDP) to develop your knowledge of fire engineering.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Good general education to GCSE level in English and Maths is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel as a must.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, competent spelling, and grammar.
  • Strong knowledge of numeracy and computer literate (Outlook, Excel, and Word must).
  • Self‑motivated.
  • Experience within a busy office/admin environment is essential to the role.
  • Excellent organisational & time management skills.
  • A professional manner.
  • Good all‑rounder with ability to work well under pressure.
  • Flexible, reliable, and hardworking.
