About The Job
The Financial Controller acts as a key partner to the Finance Manager, supporting strategic decision‑making, driving operational efficiency, and safeguarding the financial health of the business. The Financial Controller will act as the Finance Manager’s right hand in ensuring strong governance, accurate reporting, and compliance. The Financial Controller is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial reporting. This role oversees core accounting processes, statutory and group reporting, internal controls, and financial governance.
Your tasks:
- Deliver month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting in line with accounting standards.
- Ensure smooth completion of statutory accounts, audits and tax computations.
- Coordinate internal and external audits, providing audit‑ready documentation and clear explanations.
- Ensure compliance with corporate and local standards, regulations and guidelines.
- Oversee accruals, provisions, and stock accounting to ensure accurate financial representation.
- Support with VAT filings and any other regulatory tasks including surveys completion for government bodies.
- Monitor working capital performance, including inventory, payables, and receivables.
- Maintain fixed assets register and review it regularly.
- Support accounting for leases – including cars and buildings etc.
- Support credit controller with processes for credit control, order release/block, and cash‑flow monitoring.
- Support the Finance Manager in preparing annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and long‑term financial plans.
- Support the Finance Manager in developing the finance team, embedding best practices, and maintaining high performance.
- Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, systems, and reporting tools.
- Input into development of financial reporting.
Requirements:
- Must live in the UK.
- Qualified Accountant – ACCA, CIMA, ACA with strong technical accounting knowledge.
- Strong expertise in management accounting, financial reporting, audit, tax computations.
- Excellent knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Strong Excel knowledge.
- Prior exposure to SAP is beneficial and supports success in this position.
- 10-15 years in the accounting field is desirable.
