Senior Product Marketing Manager - Gateway, Devices & Vertical Solutions

We’re looking for a strategic and execution-focused Product Marketing Manager to lead go-to-market strategy for NMI's Gateway product line, with a focus on card-present devices and vertical markets such as unattended retail, parking, medical, and beyond.

This role sits at the center of product, sales, and marketing, translating platform and device capabilities into compelling, solution-forward value propositions that resonate with the operators, partners, and buyers within each vertical.

You will own market positioning, messaging, launches, and enablement for NMI's Gateway, device, and unattended solutions, ensuring NMI is the preferred payments partner across every vertical it serves.

This role requires a strong understanding of how vertical markets evaluate and adopt payment technology, and the ability to explain the value proposition and competitive advantages of NMI's solutions in terms that matter to each vertical, not just the technical specifications of the hardware or gateway itself.

You'll help shape how partners, integrators and operators in card-present verticals, in particular the unattended (transportation, parking, vending, etc) space, and understand, evaluate, and succeed with NMI, while supporting revenue teams with clear, differentiated, outcome-focused messaging that drives pipeline and adoption.

Success in this role looks like partners, integrators and operators understanding how NMI's applications help their business succeed, not a list of device features.

This role is also NMI's evangelist for these solutions.

You'll present directly to sales teams, internal and external stakeholders, and prospects, and represent NMI at trade shows, conferences, and other industry events, including external speaking opportunities and briefings with industry analysts.

You'll build AI tools into your everyday workflow as a core habit rather than an occasional add-on, and bring enough technical depth across gateways, devices, APIs, and certification processes to hold your own in a room with engineers and technical buyers, not just repeat what they tell you.

About Us

NMI develops the most trusted payment software for mobile, online and in-store that is relied on in 38 countries, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

With offices in Chicago, New York, Cape Town SA, and Bristol UK, our payment technology powers millions of customers worldwide, ensuring they can take payments worth billions, securely and reliably.

You've probably used our software when ordering a burger, paying for parking, buying something online or booking a train ticket, without even realizing it!

We believe that having a diverse group of employees strengthens both our work and our workplace.

We're focused on making NMI more diverse and welcoming with initiatives like having a dedicated Diversity, Equity & Inclusion action group, diversity goals for hiring, anonymized resume screening, affinity groups such as our Women's Network and LGBTQ+ Network, open forums for discussions on diversity and social justice, and measuring inclusion and belonging as part of our regular employee engagement surveys.

Responsibilities

  • Own Gateway, Device & Vertical Go-to-Market Strategy
  • Lead positioning and messaging for NMI's Gateway product line across device and vertical segments, including medical, unattended retail, parking, and other emerging verticals.
  • Define clear, solution-forward value propositions for each vertical's buyers and operators, grounded in the business outcomes NMI's applications enable and revenue generation rather than device or technical specifications alone.
  • Develop differentiated narratives that articulate why NMI is the payments partner of choice for each vertical, moving away from feature-and-spec language in favor of stories about partner and operator success.
  • Partner with Product Management to influence roadmap decisions using vertical market insight and competitive intelligence.

Be the customer and go-to-market expert who drives adoption of our Gateway and device solutions.

  • Drive Product Launches & Market Adoption
  • Lead end-to-end go-to-market execution for new Gateway features, devices, and vertical-specific enhancements.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally across product, sales, corporate marketing, and channel marketing to ensure successful launch execution.
  • Create launch plans, enablement materials, customer-facing messaging, and internal readiness programs that speak to each vertical's priorities and pain points.
  • Support adoption and revenue generation by aligning messaging with onboarding, documentation, and the operator experience within each vertical.
  • Deeply Understand Vertical & Device Ecosystems
  • Serve as the in-house expert on buyer and operator personas within medical, unattended, parking, transportation and other priority verticals.
  • Conduct market research to understand trends in device commerce, unattended retail, vertical-specific regulation, and payment application monetization.
  • Monitor competitors and evolving vertical market dynamics to refine NMI's differentiation strategy.
  • Translate ecosystem shifts into actionable, solution-focused messaging and strategic recommendations.
  • Build Sales & Channel Enablement
  • Develop high-impact sales enablement tools, including pitch decks, battlecards, case studies, messaging frameworks, ROI narratives, and vertical-specific solution narratives and use cases.
  • Help sales articulate the business value of NMI's Gateway and device solutions in terms each vertical's buyers care about, not just technical capability.
  • Support lifecycle messaging that drives adoption, expansion, and retention among partners across verticals.
  • Partner with channel marketing to equip ISOs, software integrators, and reseller partners with compelling, vertical-focused messaging they can use with confidence.
  • Be an Evangelist for NMI's Solutions
  • Present NMI's Gateway, device, and vertical solutions to sales teams, internal and external stakeholders, partners and prospects, turning positioning into a compelling live narrative that lands in the room.
  • Represent NMI at trade shows, industry events, and conferences, and pursue external speaking opportunities that build NMI's credibility and visibility in the verticals it serves.
  • Build relationships with industry analysts and serve as a credible, technical voice for NMI's Gateway and device story.
  • Bring working technical fluency across gateways, devices, APIs, and certification processes, deep enough to hold your own with engineers, integrators, and technical buyers.
  • Influence Product & Business Strategy
  • Use competitive insight and vertical customer research to influence product packaging, pricing, and positioning decisions.
  • Build business cases to support new vertical market opportunities.
  • Drive alignment across product, engineering, and commercial teams around priority verticals and growth strategy.
  • Success looks like: clear, differentiated positioning across each vertical NMI serves; strong adoption of new Gateway and device launches; increased pipeline contribution and revenue impact from vertical solutions; sales teams confidently articulating NMI's value in each vertical's terms; and product decisions informed by real vertical customer and market insight.
  • Drive Thought Leadership & Solution Storytelling
  • Synthesize vertical customer and market insights into repeatable narratives and frameworks for internal and external use.
  • Partner with content and comms to produce thought leadership (whitepapers, POVs, benchmark reports, keynotes, webinars) centered on how NMI's solutions help each vertical succeed.
  • Contribute to company and industry initiatives (webinars, events, analysts, partners) relevant to priority verticals.

Experience

  • 5-8+ years of B2B product marketing experience in payments, fintech, devices/hardware-enabled commerce, or vertical Saa S.
  • Direct experience marketing payment gateways, devices, or unattended/vertical solutions (e. g., unattended retail, kiosks, vending, parking, medical, or similar verticals).
  • Strong ability to translate technical or device capabilities into solution-forward, outcome-based messaging for non-technical operators and buyers.
  • Proven success leading cross-functional product and device launches.
  • Ability to move a product's narrative from feature and spec-led to solution and outcome-led, and to bring sales and channel teams along with that shift.
  • Experience supporting both direct sales and channel/reseller (ISO) go-to-market motions.
  • Comfortable and effective presenting live to sales teams, prospects, and internal/external stakeholders, including at trade shows, conferences, and analyst briefings.
  • Uses AI tools as an integrated part of daily PMM work (research, content, competitive analysis, enablement production), not as an occasional add-on.
  • Strong storytelling, messaging, speaking and content development skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing or other related field, MBA a plus.

Essential Skills

  • Strategist
  • You combine classic strategic marketing skills with experience in multi-channel marketing/distribution, have perspective, and can see and discuss multiple aspects and impacts of issues and project them into the future.

  • You collaborate well cross-functionally with key internal partners, work effectively with external partners to identify potential joint marketing opportunities, and have a willingness to learn and coach.
  • Business Savvy
