We are looking for a curious, process-minded Project Controller to join our growing delivery team in Glasgow, at the forefront of space technology. This is not a role for someone who maintains what already exists; it is a role for someone who builds what is needed. Spire's programme delivery team is scaling and needs stronger controls, better tooling and clearer processes to support a portfolio of complex, multi-year programmes spanning satellite services and government and defence contracts. You will work directly with Delivery Project Managers to establish the controls infrastructure that will keep programmes on track and give leadership accurate, real-time visibility. If you are analytical, self-directed and energised by building things from scratch and you have an interest in how modern tooling and AI can make programme delivery smarter, this role is for you.

What You'll Do:

  • Maintain programme schedules across the portfolio, including baseline management, critical path analysis, resource loading and logic health.
  • Design and implement controls frameworks, templates and reporting tools for use across the DPM team, identifying gaps in current process and building practical solutions.
  • Support cost performance tracking; maintaining actuals, ETC and spend-versus-budget analysis, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions.
  • Build and manage programme reporting in a project management platform, configuring dashboards, workflows and data structures that give DPMs and leadership real-time visibility of programme health.
  • Support formal change control processes, assessing schedule, cost and resource impact of proposed changes and maintaining the integrity of the programme baseline.
  • Interrogate risk and opportunity registers, ensuring key actions are tracked in the schedule and that progress toward risk retirement is visible.
  • Identify opportunities to improve how the team works — through better tooling, smarter use of data or process changes that reduce manual effort and increase accuracy.

Key Skills:

  • Experience in project controls, planning or scheduling, ideally within aerospace, defence or a technically complex industry.
  • Proficiency with scheduling tools such as MS Project; able to build, baseline and interrogate a schedule, not just update one.
  • Analytical and detail-oriented, with the ability to work across schedules, cost data and performance metrics and identify what the numbers are actually saying.
  • A builder, not just a maintainer: self-directed and proactive, able to design and implement process and tooling where nothing exists yet.
  • Collaborative and credible — able to work across engineering, finance and programme teams and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders alike.
  • Genuine curiosity about how project management platforms, data tools and AI can make delivery smarter, with a willingness to learn and experiment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Exposure to AI tools and/or data platforms such as Databricks or Power BI, and comfortable adopting new software quickly — curiosity and willingness to learn matters more than specific tool experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Mathematics or a related field.

Spire operates a hybrid work model, and this position will require you to work a minimum of three days per week in the office. Access to US export-controlled software and/or technology may be required for this role. If needed, Spire will arrange the necessary licenses—this is not something candidates need to have before applying.

Global Perks:

  • Name Your Satellite Program (NYSP)
  • Launch Attendance
  • Generous Time Off Policy
  • Education Assistance Program
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP)
  • Family Leave
  • Fitness Reimbursement
  • Employee Referral Program
  • Healthy snacks & beverages in every office
