We are seeking a well-qualified and experienced German Specialist for September 2025, who would also be able to teach French, Spanish or Italian to lead the German department. Modern Foreign languages are popular in the school and achieve excellent results at GCSE and A level. German, French, Italian, and Spanish are offered to GCSE and A level. All girls take two languages starting in Thirds (Year 7), and continue with at least one language to GCSE.
The Modern Foreign Languages Department is led by the Head of Department, Mrs. Natalia Estima. The work of the Department is supplemented by speaking assistants for German, French, Italian, and Spanish, and members of the Department offer additional teaching to girls applying to Oxbridge or pursuing the Extended Project Qualification. The Department runs co-curricular clubs and organizes trips abroad, visits to plays and films throughout the year, as well as cultural workshops. The successful applicant will be expected to make a strong contribution to the co-curricular life of the school. The German department runs an annual study day for students in schools across London, and the successful applicant will lead this event.
