About the role

Our lab aims to understand how functional organs are built during embryonic development, focusing on the developing zebrafish heart. We integrate tissue mechanics, developmental genetics, transcriptomics, biophysics, and theoretical modelling to study organ development.

What you will be doing

  • Use advanced microscopy, genetic and optical perturbations, and biophysical approaches to investigate how mechanics, cell fate dynamics, and geometry interact during tissue patterning.
  • Study 3D topological meshworks and their shaping, constraint, and canalization.
  • Investigate nuclear integrity maintenance in a developing, beating heart.
  • Explore physical principles of organ scaling and regeneration.
  • Examine the role of bioelectricity and the interplay between mechanics and metabolism in heart morphogenesis.
  • Collaborate closely with theoreticians to tailor research scope to your background and interests.

About you

  • PhD in developmental biology, biophysics, cell biology (or final stages of PhD submission) with strong background in advanced imaging.
  • Expertise in advanced confocal and/or light‑sheet imaging and quantitative image analysis.
  • Excellent molecular biology skills.
  • Strong interest and experience in interdisciplinary approaches.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Please note you must meet the essential criteria listed within the Role Profile, to have your application reviewed.
