Salary: £35,000–£45,000 DOE + Uncapped Commission
Realistic OTE: £60,000–£70,000+
About the Role
Francesca’s Recruitment Ltd is recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing engineering business based in Chesterfield. They are seeking an experienced and driven Business Development Manager to join their expanding sales team. This is a key role responsible for managing a strong flow of inbound enquiries while also identifying and converting high-value new business opportunities. You will work closely with internal technical and project teams to deliver tailored solutions to customers across the UK. This position is fully office-based, as close collaboration with the wider team is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing and converting inbound sales enquiries
- Proactively identifying and securing new business opportunities
- Managing the full sales cycle from initial enquiry through to close
- Preparing quotations, proposals, and technical information (with internal support)
- Building strong relationships with customers and internal teams
- Maintaining accurate CRM records and sales forecasts
- Working on deals ranging from £30k to £250k with sales cycles from 2 weeks to 12+ months
- Achieving and exceeding revenue and margin targets
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience in business development, technical sales, or solution-based selling
- Demonstrable track record of closing new business
- Experience managing longer, consultative sales cycles
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to qualify opportunities effectively
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple live opportunities
- Motivated, resilient, and target-driven
