Francesca's Recruitment Ltd is recruiting for an experienced Chemical Regulatory Compliance Manager on behalf of a well-established manufacturing business based in Goldthorpe. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded compliance professional to take ownership of regulatory affairs and environmental compliance within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You'll play a key role in ensuring the business meets all relevant UK chemical legislation while driving continuous improvement across compliance systems and processes.
The Role
Reporting to the CEO, you will be responsible for maintaining regulatory compliance across the site, ensuring all chemical processing, blending and packaging activities comply with UK legislation and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and continuously improve COSHH compliance across the business.
- Ensure compliance with UK REACH, GB CLP and other relevant chemical legislation.
- Prepare, review and maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS), product classifications and regulatory documentation.
- Support environmental permit compliance and reporting requirements.
- Conduct compliance audits across manufacturing and warehouse operations.
- Produce and review risk assessments and ensure effective control measures are implemented.
- Support ISO 14001 environmental management systems and maintain compliance records.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities across compliance processes.
- Deliver compliance training, inductions and spill response awareness.
- Investigate compliance incidents, near misses and non-conformances using root cause analysis.
- Prepare compliance reports for senior management.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities, auditors and external stakeholders as required.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Proven experience preparing and maintaining Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Strong working knowledge of GB CLP/GHS hazard classification.
- Practical understanding of UK REACH legislation.
- Experience producing COSHH assessments and chemical risk assessments.
- Previous experience interpreting chemical legislation within a manufacturing or regulated environment.
- Experience conducting investigations and implementing corrective actions.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical information clearly.
- Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
- The ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science or a related discipline.
- NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
- Experience with SDS authoring software.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 management systems.
- Internal Auditor qualification.
- Experience with Environment Agency permitting.
- Knowledge of UFI and Poison Centre Notification (PCN) submissions.
