Francesca's Recruitment Ltd is recruiting on behalf of a well‑established and growing engineering business based in Chesterfield. They are seeking an experienced and driven Business Development Manager to join their expanding sales team.
About the Role
This is a key role responsible for managing a strong flow of inbound enquiries while also identifying and converting high‑value new business opportunities. You will work closely with internal technical and project teams to deliver tailored solutions to customers across the UK. This position is fully office‑based, as close collaboration with the wider team is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing and converting inbound sales enquiries
- Proactively identifying and securing new business opportunities
- Managing the full sales cycle from initial enquiry through to close
- Preparing quotations, proposals, and technical information (with internal support)
- Building strong relationships with customers and internal teams
- Maintaining accurate CRM records and sales forecasts
- Working on deals ranging from £30k to £250k with sales cycles from 2 weeks to 12+ months
- Achieving and exceeding revenue and margin targets
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience in business development, technical sales, or solution‑based selling
- Demonstrable track record of closing new business
- Experience managing longer, consultative sales cycles
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to qualify opportunities effectively
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple live opportunities
- Motivated, resilient, and target‑driven
