An exciting opportunity has become available for a Band 5 Senior Substance Misuse Practitioner with the Nottingham Recovery Network Triage Team. The Nottingham Recovery Network comprises of Framework Housing Association, Double Impact, Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and Al-Hurraya. The service is publicly funded and has been established to support people who use drugs and alcohol. We provide a single point of advice, support and treatment for anyone in Nottingham City who wishes to change their relationship with drugs or alcohol.
Based across sites: City Centre Nottingham/ Hospital Liaison NUH / Primary Care and other care settings to meet the needs of the service, some travelling may be required across the city as part of this role.
The Nottingham Recovery Network is the single point of advice, support, and treatment to anybody in Nottingham City who wishes to change their relationship with alcohol or drugs. An exciting opportunity has become available within the highly motivated and ever developing Triage team for a Senior Substance Use Practitioner to support our work to further expand into the community with a focus on the cycle of change and engaging specific and previously under-represented groups into treatment.
The Triage Team are the first port of call for individuals looking to access treatment, therefore you will need excellent communication and motivational skills to encourage and motivate hard to reach groups into treatment. In addition to completing assessments the role will have its own caseload and support individuals who have substance use issues, and who need recovery related support as well as advice and guidance.
The successful candidate will use their experience at the assessment stage to provide high quality evidenced based substance use treatment to adults with mild to moderate dependence on substances in line with national guidance. This will include brief and extended advice and structured treatment. The post holder is required to be competent and autonomous in dealing with more complex cases and will have the experience and knowledge to competently advise more junior members of the team.
Key Responsibilities:
- To be the First Port of Call and the face of the service.
- To have great communication skills and an ability to put people at ease with an ability to encourage and motivate people to engage with treatment.
- To carry out initial comprehensive assessments to identify support needs.
- An excellent working knowledge of the cycle of change and understanding of utilisation of information brief advice and motivational interviewing to engage treatment resistant/under-represented groups into treatment.
- To formulate appropriate and structured care plans ensuring service users receive evidence-based interventions and assist in the delivery of structured care plans.
- Key working with service users to build successful and trusting therapeutic relationships.
- To maintain appropriate records and case notes in line with the service outcomes and policies and procedures.
- Care planning, risk assessment and risk management.
- Have responsibility for supporting and mentoring more junior members of staff.
- Extensive experience of working with alcohol or drug users in a similar role at assessment stage.
- Experience of utilising psychosocial interventions (e.g. motivational interviewing, CBT) to initiate change.
- A genuine passion for working with vulnerable people with substance use problems.
