About The Role

This is an exciting existing role within our team. As an Assistant Technical Director (ATD), you'll provide vital technical support to our pipeline and artists, helping resolve daily production bottlenecks. Acting as a central bridge between talent and technology, this role ensures data flows smoothly and systems run efficiently. The ATD proactively identifies workflows that can be streamlined, maintains in‑house tooling, and supports creative teams to ensure the flawless execution of interactive realtime workflows as well as complex visual effects work. Immersive ATDs are just as familiar and comfortable with realtime workflows or projects with a software‑based delivery, as well as those of a more traditional VFX workflow. This role is perfect for a proactive problem solver who wants to support incredible creative teams and learn from industry‑leading innovators.

What You’ll Do

  • Collaborate closely with artists, production, and developers to debug and resolve daily pipeline bottlenecks on live Creative Technology & Attractions projects within Immersive.
  • Monitor, manage, and optimise storage resources, as well as CI/CD stack and GPU farm queues to guarantee efficient data tracking, resource allocation and smooth operation between teams.
  • Maintain and develop custom in‑house tools, utility scripts, and automation workflows to maximise studio‑wide efficiency.
  • Take ownership of data ingestion, asset preparation, and final client‑side deliveries, ensuring strict adherence to studio quality controls and security standards.
  • Write clear, concise internal documentation to help colleagues utilise custom software packages and adhere to correct production procedures.
  • Work harmoniously within teams and with technology stakeholders at all levels to align day‑to‑day fixes with broader global pipeline architecture goals.

Job Requirements

Essential Skills

  • Strong working knowledge of Python for scripting and automation.
  • Comfortable navigating and working in a Windows and Linux or Unix command‑line environment.
  • An understanding of the core fundamentals of Interactive/Game/Realtime and CG/3D animation or VFX pipelines.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with a helpful, self‑motivated approach to assisting others.
  • Natural attention to detail and strong structural logic when parsing technical data points.

Nice‑to‑have Skills

  • Experience using major DCC software packages like Maya, Houdini, Nuke, or Unreal Engine.
  • Familiarity with database management and production tracking software such as ShotGrid or ftrack.
  • Basic knowledge of C++, PySide, or PyQt web frameworks.
