You will need to be based here in the UK and available to work from February 2026. A multi Oscar-winning creative studio, we have worked with some of the greatest storytellers in film today. Collaborating with directors and producers across the complete filmmaking process to help design, plan and create beautiful images, we focus on finding innovative creative solutions to support their vision and set new standards for visual effects in cinema.

The Role
As an Environment Artist at Framestore, you will be the mastermind behind assembling models, digital matte paintings, textures, projections, and lights into a spellbinding scene for rendering. Your creative touch extends to crafting models, textures, and photoârealistic digital matte paintings â or collaborating seamlessly with specialists in those disciplines. But itâs not just about the artistry; you will be the troubleshooter, tackling technical issues with the CG scene and optimising renders to work seamlessly within available resources. Your collaboration extends to working handâinâhand with a Compositor, bringing renders and projections to life in a compositing application.
What else is on your pallet:
- Scene assembly and lighting prowess for a variety of shots and assets, including characters and animation.
- A keen eye for developing the visual look of shots, assets, or sequences in collaboration with Visual Effects and CG Supervisors.
- Identifying the optimal approach to match the quality of plate photography.
- Seamless communication with production, ensuring schedules and deadlines are not just met but exceeded.
- Strong knowledge of Maya, Nuke, and Photoshop.
- Modeling, UV layout, and texturing skills.
- Previous experience with a 2.5D workflow.
- A strong understanding of the entire VFX process.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Creative problemâsolving abilities.
Desirable Experience
- Experience with volumetric rendering for clouds and atmosphere.
- An understanding of cuttingâedge technology in the field, such as stereo photogrammetry and photoâbased 3D reconstruction.
- A traditional arts background with an emphasis on photoârealism and environments.
- Artistic skills in digital matte painting.
