Methods Engineer
Job Description
The Method Engineer is responsible for the preparation and follow‑up of all Construction Work in the scope of Framatome Limited. The role is based on site at Hinkley Point C, with travelling to other sites in the UK and abroad being part of the role.
The role consists in coordinating the Design Package to be installed on site, liaising with the Design Office, the Site, the Client and other relevant departments of Framatome Limited. The Method Engineer has a primary role in defining the Site Activities methodology (installation and/or erection) and ensuring the required Temporary Works are completed and validated prior to Construction Work.
The Method Engineer liaises with the Design Office to ensure the development of the Design Package is suitable for installation, constantly seeks solutions to the problematics related to Site Activities and captures and compiles summaries and lessons learned about the operations conducted.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and document comprehensive Site Activities, enabling internal approval and customer acceptance when applicable.
- Maintain an auditable configuration system for Design and Method documentation, demonstrating that the used Site documentation (Risk Assessment, Method Statement, Procedures, Temporary Work, etc.) is Fit for Purpose.
- Coordinate with relevant stakeholders and interface with the Methods Engineer to obtain all requirements and specifics before Construction Work.
- Organise presentation and produce/check documentation prior to Site Activities (Method Statement, Temporary Work, Installation procedures/instructions, Installation drawing, etc.).
- Act as Temporary Works Coordinator to define and specify the relevant Temporary Work, acting as a Product Manager for the design of Temporary Work as required.
- Ensure all contributing stakeholders are given the right level of input for their own production (e.g., Design Engineers producing Temporary Work Design or Site drawings; HSE Advisor supporting RAMS).
- Maintain an auditable requirements matrix gathering all requirements within the Methods Engineer remit; prioritise and challenge stakeholders on requirements.
- Track and minute reviews and Lessons Learned, contributing to continual improvement within the role and applicable processes.
- Participate in HSE Risk Design Reviews, Installation Method Reviews, and Temporary Work Design Reviews; master HSE requirement and CDM regulations.
- Ensure the Site specifications are taken into account for Design and Site Activities and challenge out‑of‑scope requirements for claim purposes.
Qualifications
- Engineering process knowledge and assurance.
- Mechanical and Structural Engineering degree.
- Knowledge of Temporary Works.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Writing technical and non‑technical documentation.
