Due to ongoing projects and growth, we are looking to recruit several Mechanical Technicians for our Site Services Team for working at Sizewell B (SZB) and overseas supporting the delivery of Outages. The planned working pattern will be to carry out the following:
- Support the SZB Outage (scheduled for every 18 months for a 6-to-8-week period)
- Working in the SZB Maintenance Department
- Work on overseas outages in Finland, South Africa, Brazil and the USA.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Work from detailed engineering drawings
- Adhere to procedures, relevant quality procedures and assist with quality records and documentation
- Maintain equipment and small tools for assembly / calibration
Detailed QHSE responsibilities:
- Never undertake work without first ensuring that means will be in place to guarantee that the work can be done in a safe and compliant manner.
- Be suitably familiar with the contents of the Risk Assessment and Method Statements and Permit to Work
- Attend any HSE training, meetings, etc. as requested.
- Attend & participate in Toolbox Talks.
- Ensure that tools, equipment and materials brought into and used in the area are fully checked and are compliant with HSE requirements.
- Ensure that no work is carried out unless supported by the relevant specific Method Statements, Risk Assessments and Work Permits.
- Ensure that all incidents and near misses are reported.
To be considered, the following qualifications, skills and experience are required:
- NVQ Level 3 or above in relevant mechanical qualification (essential)
- City & Guilds Medium Confined Space Level 2 (desirable)
- NVQ Level 3 Occupational Work Supervision (desirable)
- Fundamental understanding of mechanical equipment installation methods.
- Experience with rotating & static equipment
- Experience in skilful, controlled manipulations of small objects & torquing techniques & processes
- Experience of testing, pre-commissioning and commissioning processes
- Read and understand detailed drawings
- Used to working in a construction, production and engineering environment
- Knowledge of current Health & Safety regulations
- Team working ability
- Works calmly under pressure
- Challenges what is considered unacceptable behaviours
