Due to ongoing projects and growth, we are looking to recruit several Mechanical Technicians for our Site Services Team for working at Sizewell B (SZB) and overseas supporting the delivery of Outages. The planned working pattern will be to carry out the following:

  • Support the SZB Outage (scheduled for every 18 months for a 6-to-8-week period)
  • Working in the SZB Maintenance Department
  • Work on overseas outages in Finland, South Africa, Brazil and the USA.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Work from detailed engineering drawings
  • Adhere to procedures, relevant quality procedures and assist with quality records and documentation
  • Maintain equipment and small tools for assembly / calibration

Detailed QHSE responsibilities:

  • Never undertake work without first ensuring that means will be in place to guarantee that the work can be done in a safe and compliant manner.
  • Be suitably familiar with the contents of the Risk Assessment and Method Statements and Permit to Work
  • Attend any HSE training, meetings, etc. as requested.
  • Attend & participate in Toolbox Talks.
  • Ensure that tools, equipment and materials brought into and used in the area are fully checked and are compliant with HSE requirements.
  • Ensure that no work is carried out unless supported by the relevant specific Method Statements, Risk Assessments and Work Permits.
  • Ensure that all incidents and near misses are reported.

To be considered, the following qualifications, skills and experience are required:

  • NVQ Level 3 or above in relevant mechanical qualification (essential)
  • City & Guilds Medium Confined Space Level 2 (desirable)
  • NVQ Level 3 Occupational Work Supervision (desirable)
  • Fundamental understanding of mechanical equipment installation methods.
  • Experience with rotating & static equipment
  • Experience in skilful, controlled manipulations of small objects & torquing techniques & processes
  • Experience of testing, pre-commissioning and commissioning processes
  • Read and understand detailed drawings
  • Used to working in a construction, production and engineering environment
  • Knowledge of current Health & Safety regulations
  • Team working ability
  • Works calmly under pressure
  • Challenges what is considered unacceptable behaviours
