EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) established in 2023, oversees the design and realisation of nuclear islands for new projects. EPR-E is responsible for delivering the design for a number of NI buildings, systems and equipment contracts for the Hinkley Point C EPR Project through an integrated team, supporting HPC construction and commissioning activities, and preparing design replication feasibility and engineering activities for the Sizewell C Project.
As the N2 Area Civil Team Lead, you will manage a team comprising staff from EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E), NNB, and partners. Your team will be responsible for delivering civil studies on the N2 buildings. You will be supported by engineering contractor teams from ICOS (a consortium of EGIS, SETEC, and TRACTEBEL) working under EPR-E contracts to update and modify relevant deliverables, including detailed design and calculations.
You will be responsible for the following:
- Leading the quality and production of design modifications within the N2 scope, including surveillance activities.
- Overseeing and monitoring the production of all impacted deliverables.
- Managing the team’s workload, including organizing weekend work, and subcontracting tasks.
- Identifying and addressing the training needs of the team.
- Identifying and managing improvements in civil activities related to the discipline.
- Interacting with the Responsible Designer’s back-office to manage civil design interfaces.
- Collaborating with the client (project and intelligent customer) to support the overall project within the JDO.
- Coordinating with other disciplines within the JDO to ensure project support.
- Supporting the JDO Discipline Lead in meeting the discipline’s overall needs, including production, training, quality, and recruitment.
- Approving updates and ensuring the continuity and consistency of design modifications, while ensuring compliance with methods, tools, processes, and delegated authority from the back-office teams.
- Safeguarding the interests of the Responsible Designer regarding intellectual property and responsibility concerns.
- Ensuring the JDO team produces high-quality deliverables to support the project.
- Ensuring the best solutions for the project are achieved, balancing the needs of NNB and RD stakeholders, including safety and environmental aspects.
- Approving Cat4 NCR and FCR on behalf of the client.
To be considered, the following qualifications, experience and skills are essential:
- Civil engineer with experience in design of buildings in the nuclear industry or with experience on subjects at the interface between design and construction.
- Knowledge of N2 area buildings and Layout.
- Previous design experience in nuclear engineering centre is a real asset.
- Knowledge of the ETC-C code and safety requirements are recommended to answer to the requests.
- Knowledge of 2D and 3D design software.
- Experience working in a multicultural environment.
- Knowledge of the HPC project or previous EPR and associated studies/doctrine is a real asset.
- Fluent English, French is a bonus.
