The purpose of the Business Operations Manager (BOM) is to support the Head of Business Line (BL) in the effective management, coordination and delivery of the New Build Business Line activities. The Business Operations Manager will provide operational, commercial and delivery support across the full range of Business Line responsibilities, ensuring continuity of leadership, coordination and customer engagement when required. The BOM will be responsible for increasing OiT, revenue and Operating Income of the Business Line. The BOM will promote the Framatome values and promote lead time reduction initiatives.

The Business Operations Manager will work closely with Project Managers, functional managers, commercial teams, customers and wider stakeholders to support the successful delivery of projects, business objectives and strategic initiatives. The role requires a proactive and highly organised individual capable of operating independently across a broad range of activities, from administrative and coordination tasks through to commercial discussions, contract negotiations and business development support.

The Business Operations Manager will deputise for the Head of BL during periods of absence, leave or conflicting priorities, representing the Business Line internally and externally as required. While the role does not carry direct accountability for the Business Line P&L, the Business Line Lead will be responsible for the successful execution of delegated tasks and responsibilities, ensuring delivery to the required standards, timelines and business objectives.

The Business Operations Manager will support the Head of Business Line in the overall coordination and performance of the New Build Projects Business Line.

The Business Operations Manager will directly:

  • Support the Head of BL in the day-to-day management and coordination of Business Line activities;
  • Deputise for the Head of BL during periods of absence or conflicting priorities;
  • Coordinate and follow up actions arising from operational, commercial and management meetings;
  • Support project reviews and monitor project performance indicators to identify risks, issues and improvement opportunities;
  • Engage with customers and stakeholders in support of project delivery, commercial discussions and relationship management activities;
  • Support the preparation, review and negotiation of contracts, proposals and commercial agreements;
  • Assist in the development of winning proposals and business opportunities aligned with the Business Line strategy;
  • Coordinate across functions to ensure actions, deliverables and priorities are effectively managed and communicated;
  • Support the preparation of business performance reports, presentations and management updates;
  • Help drive delivery performance, operational efficiency and continuous improvement initiatives across the Business Line;
  • Support planning and coordination activities relating to resources, workload and future opportunities;
  • Ensure delegated tasks and responsibilities are completed effectively, accurately and within required timescales;
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism, organisation, confidentiality and attention to detail in all activities.

What will you be doing?

  • Effective support to the Head of Business Line in the day-to-day management and coordination of the Business Line activities;
  • Successful deputisation for the Head of Business Line when necessary;
  • Timely and effective completion of delegated operational, commercial and administrative activities;
  • Strong support to project delivery teams resulting in improved delivery performance, customer satisfaction and issue resolution;
  • Effective coordination and follow-up of actions arising from management, project and customer meetings;
  • High quality preparation and coordination of reports, presentations, dashboards and management information;
  • Effective support to bid, proposal and tender activities contributing to successful contract awards;
  • Professional support to commercial and contract management activities, including negotiations and customer interactions;
  • Strong coordination across functions to support resource planning, workload management and delivery priorities;
  • Proactive identification, escalation and management of risks, issues and improvement opportunities;
  • Maintenance of strong working relationships with customers, internal stakeholders and project teams;
  • Contribution to continuous improvement initiatives, operational efficiency and business performance objectives;
  • Delivery of delegated tasks and responsibilities to the required quality, schedule and business expectations;

What are we looking for?

  • HND or Degree in relevant Engineering, Project Management, Commercial or Manufacturing discipline;
  • Project Management qualification or certification (APM, PMI, Prince2 or equivalent);
  • Strong experience in project delivery within a regulated industry environment;
  • Experience supporting or leading commercial and contract management activities (NEC, FIDIC, bespoke contracts etc.);
  • Strong understanding of project management principles, delivery controls and customer relationship management;
  • Experience supporting bids, tenders and sales/business development activities;
  • Understanding of nuclear safety culture principles;
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary project teams;
  • Experience engaging directly with customers and senior stakeholders;
  • Knowledge of relevant ISO standards (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, 19443);
  • Strong organisational and coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously;
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills;
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and proactively resolve issues;
  • Commercially aware with good understanding of financial and operational drivers;
  • Strong administrative, reporting and presentation skills;
  • Good understanding of health, safety and quality requirements within project delivery environments;
  • Experience in highly regulated industries. Experience within the nuclear industry is highly desirable;
  • High level of competence with Microsoft Office and business reporting tools.
