We are looking to recruit a Process Engineer to work on a variety of projects relating to fluid flow systems in both the nuclear and non-nuclear process sectors. Engineering activities will mostly relate to single and multiphase pumping and pipeline flow, mixing processes and heat transfer. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their technical skills by working on a range of projects and through internal and external training.

As part of the Process Engineering team in Framatome Ltd, your mission is to deliver high quality engineering output and contribute to the successful delivery of engineering research, design and consultancy projects for both internal and external clients in a safe and efficient manner.

What will you be doing?

  • Working closely with peers, including those involved in commercial and project management activities as well as engineering roles and technicians.
  • Leading engineering aspects of small and large projects and coordinating others in the team.
  • Development of experimental test programmes, performance and supervision of test work in the laboratory, and analysing and interpreting the results.
  • Specification of equipment, including mechanical and instrumentation components.
  • Presenting results/analysis to both peers and external clients.
  • Performing calculations relating to the design and operation of fluid systems, and providing experience-based recommendations to both peers and clients.
  • Providing supervision and guidance to younger engineers.
  • Producing documentation, including detailed technical reports.
  • Carrying out team activities while adhering to project budgets and deadlines.
  • Developing technical project proposals and costings.
  • Contributing to the development of company quality and health and safety processes.

The key outputs of the role will be:

  • Quality experimental data and associated analysis.
  • Presentation of engineering deliverables to internal and external clients.
  • Technical reports.
  • Predictions of process performance and recommendations for potential improvements.

What are we looking for?

It is expected that as experience grows, the successful applicant will broaden their knowledge across a wide range of projects and technical areas, developing significant expertise and providing engineering support across the business. You will be a passionate engineer committed to excellence in both safety and quality, and eager to be part of a growing team. We are seeking the following skills:

  • A Masters or PhD in Process Engineering or a related discipline with relevant experience working in industry.
  • Advanced knowledge of single and multiphase fluid mechanics and industrial applications. A sound knowledge of mixing processes and fluid rheology is desirable.
  • Knowledge or experience of data acquisition systems, programming (Python, VBA), image or video analysis, and CFD are desirable but not essential.
  • Strong analytical ability, with experience in statistical analysis and interpretation of data.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, well organised, and able to work at pace to deliver on time.
  • Driven to work safely and strive towards continual improvement in this area for themselves and across the business.
