We're hiring: Project Engineer

Fractory is transforming how manufacturing gets done - we run the full service from quoting to manufacturing and delivery, and take responsibility for every step. You're used to ordering almost anything online in a couple of minutes; we're making manufacturing procurement work the same way, without waiting days for quotes.

As a Project Engineer, you'll own customer orders across a range of industries - with a prime focus on sheet metal and CNC - combining technical expertise with strong communication and project management to drive every project from quote to delivery.

You'll love this if you…

  • Hold an engineering degree (Mechanical, Manufacturing, or similar)
  • Bring 3+ years of engineering and manufacturing experience
  • Are proficient in CAD software (Fusion 360, SolidWorks, Solid Edge, AutoCAD)
  • Have experience in technical project management
  • Are skilled in root cause analysis and complex problem-solving
  • Stay organised in fast-moving, dynamic environments
  • Communicate and collaborate well in international settings
  • Juggle multiple priorities and hit deadlines without dropping quality

Bonus points if you…

  • Have a real appetite for technical challenges and follow industry developments
  • Are proactive and can manage your workload independently
  • Love sharing knowledge and best practices across the team
  • Bring sharp organisational skills and deliver with precision

What you'll do:

You'll be the engineer behind the order - turning customer drawings into manufacturable, well-priced, on-time projects, and stepping in to solve problems when things get complex.

Quoting & manufacturability

  • Analyse customer specifications, drawings, and requirements to assess manufacturability and flag potential risks
  • Recommend optimal designs and materials for manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and quality
  • Prepare accurate, competitive quotes based on production costs, timeline estimates, quality, and material procurement
  • Partner with the sales team to align quotes with customer expectations and project constraints

Production & problem-solving

  • Proactively identify and resolve issues throughout production, minimising delays and keeping execution smooth
  • Lead the problem-solving process on troubled orders, coordinating sales, suppliers, and customers to a resolution

Collaboration & continuous improvement

  • Work continuously with our supplier network to improve performance
  • Manage communication and collaboration across internal teams and external partners
  • Identify and implement improvements that continually refine our processes and workflows

What you get:

Competitive salary

Equity options

25 days' holiday + bank holidays

Juno flexible benefits platform

MediCash healthcare reimbursement

Pension scheme (3% from Fractory)

Regular team events & socials

UK office + hybrid working (office days: Monday-Wednesday)

Cycle to Work scheme

International team and modern tooling

A genuinely scoped role with clear KPIs and real ownership, in a function that’s being built around you - not a seat in a rigid org

Hiring process (quick & clear):

  • 30-min screening call with our People Operations Manager UK
  • 30-min deep dive with Milap (UK Sales Director)
  • Technical skill assignment
  • Manchester office meet-up, presentation, with Sales Director and Head of Account Management
  • Final 30-min call with leadership

We keep the entire process smooth and respectful of your time - expect 2-3 weeks from first chat to offer.
