We are seeking a Component Engineer to support the selection, qualification, lifecycle management, and reliability of electronic components used in our products. The ideal candidate will work closely with hardware design, supply chain, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure components meet technical, cost, reliability, and availability requirements throughout the product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Component Selection & Qualification
    • Evaluate, select, and approve electronic components (passives, semiconductors, connectors, electromechanical, etc.)
    • Review datasheets, specifications, and reliability data to ensure compliance with design and regulatory requirements
    • Support schematic and PCB design reviews with component recommendations and alternatives
    • Qualify second source and alternate components to mitigate supply chain risk
  • Lifecycle & Obsolescence Management
    • Monitor component lifecycle status (active, NRND, EOL, obsolete)
    • Develop mitigation strategies for obsolete or constrained components
    • Maintain approved vendor lists (AVL) and component databases
    • Work with supply chain teams on availability, lead times, and cost optimization
  • Reliability & Quality
    • Perform component reliability analysis and derating calculations
    • Support failure analysis and root-cause investigations
    • Define and review component-level qualification and validation plans
    • Ensure components meet industry standards (IPC, JEDEC, AEC‐Q, MIL, as applicable)
  • Documentation & Systems
    • Create and maintain component specifications, qualification reports, and technical documentation
    • Manage component data within PLM, ERP, or component management systems
    • Ensure accurate part numbering, descriptions, and parametric data
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Collaborate with hardware, manufacturing, test, quality, and procurement teams
    • Provide technical support during NPI, production ramp, and sustaining phases
    • Interface with suppliers and manufacturers for technical clarifications and audits
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in component engineering or hardware engineering (industry‐dependent)
  • Strong knowledge of electronic components and their applications
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, datasheets, and technical specifications
  • Familiarity with component lifecycle management and supply chain considerations
  • Experience with PLM/ERP systems and component databases
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in regulated industries (automotive, aerospace, medical, industrial, consumer electronics)
  • Knowledge of reliability engineering, derating, and failure analysis
  • Familiarity with IPC, JEDEC, AEC‐Q, UL, or MIL standards
  • Experience working directly with component manufacturers and distributors
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and DFM/DFA principles
  • Strong analytical and problem‐solving skills
  • Attention to detail and documentation accuracy
  • Effective communication across engineering and non‐technical teams
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
