The Role
We’re looking for an experienced HR and Office Manager to take ownership of our people operations and day-to-day office management in Bristol. This is a hands-on, trusted role at the heart of the business. You’ll work closely with the team and the Head of People, acting as the go-to person for employee support and ensuring the office runs smoothly and professionally. No two days will be the same. Some days you’ll be onboarding a new starter and making sure their first day feels seamless. Other days you’ll be managing absence reporting, supporting recruitment activity or liaising with suppliers to keep the office running as it should. You’ll also collaborate with our London-based office manager to ensure consistency across locations.
Key Responsibilities
- HR Management
- Lead day-to-day HR administration and employee support for the Bristol office.
- Manage onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring a professional and compliant experience.
- Conduct right to work checks in line with UK legislation.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date HR records and documentation.
- Track and report on holiday, sickness and other absence.
- Support recruitment activity, including interview coordination and candidate communication.
- Act as the first point of contact for employee queries.
- Support managers with basic employee relations matters, escalating appropriately where needed.
- Ensure HR processes remain compliant with UK employment law and company policies.
- Assist with the ongoing development of HR processes as the company grows.
- Office Management
- Take full ownership of the Bristol office environment.
- Ensure the office is welcoming, organised and a productive place to work.
- Manage office supplies and stock levels.
- Coordinate with landlords, contractors and external service providers when needed.
- Oversee health and safety requirements and ensure compliance.
- Support the organisation of team events and internal initiatives.
- Act as the central point of contact for all office-related matters.

You’re practical, discreet and confident dealing with sensitive matters. You understand that good HR is about both compliance and care.
Essential skills and experience
- Proven experience in an HR and/or Office Manager role within the UK.
- Solid understanding HR best practice.
- Experience managing onboarding, right to work checks and employee records.
- Strong administrative skills and attention to detail.
- Experience tracking absence and maintaining HR systems.
- Confident using modern HR platforms and office tools.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Comfortable working in a growing, evolving environment.
Nice to have
- Experience in a start-up or scaling business.
- Familiarity with tools such as MacOS, Slack, Google Workspace, HiBob, Greenhouse and Docusign.
- Health and Safety or first aid training.
