Lead Fraud & Risk Analyst

Role Summary
The Fraud Strategy & Risk Enablement Lead plays a critical role in shaping and executing the organization’s fraud prevention and risk mitigation strategy. This role is designed for a strategic thinker and operational enabler who can navigate the evolving fraud landscape—marked by increasing complexity, loss of possession, and emerging threats. The ideal candidate will drive data-led insights, foster cross-functional collaboration, and champion governance and capacity building to ensure fraud resilience across the business.
Role Responsibilities
Fraud Strategy & Data Intelligence
- Evaluate the relevance and effectiveness of current data sources and KPIs used to monitor fraud trends.
- Lead initiatives to identify and implement quick wins in fraud prevention.
- Provide analytical support to challenge and refine existing fraud models, particularly around net loss and forecasting accuracy.
Operational Enablement
- Manage competing priorities across business units while maintaining momentum on fraud initiatives.
- Ensure data integrity throughout technical development and deployment cycles.
- Drive automation and process improvements to enhance fraud detection and response capabilities.
Governance & Capacity Building
- Champion governance frameworks that empower resource ownership and decision-making.
- Support upskilling initiatives to build fraud and risk capabilities.
- Collaborate with BAU teams to ensure seamless integration of fraud strategy into daily operations.
Strategic Collaboration
- Work closely with finance to align fraud strategy with budget constraints and challenge assumptions where needed.
- Engage with stakeholders across technology, product, and fraud leadership to ensure alignment with VIK (Value-In-Kind) funding and broader business objectives.
- Provide strategic guidance on fraud related to F2P (Funds-to-Person) and non-card A2A (Account-to-Account) payments, balancing short-term impact with long-term resilience.
Mandatory technical skills
- Proven experience in fraud strategy, risk analytics, or financial crime prevention.
- Strong understanding of Open Banking, phishing, scams, and authentication technologies.
- Experience with forecasting models and performance metrics related to fraud loss and prevention.
- Appetite for championing change and challenging forecasting assumptions.
- Experience with ISO 20022, SEPA Instant, Faster Payments, and fraud controls in A2A and non-card payment ecosystems.
- Understanding of OAuth2, OpenID Connect, and API threat detection tools.
- Knowledge of technologies such as biometric authentication, device fingerprinting, behavioural biometrics, and multi-factor authentication (MFA).
- Familiarity with fraud modelling using Python, R, SQL, SAS.
Mandatory non-technical skills
- Strategic mindset with the ability to translate insights into actionable fraud prevention strategies.
- Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Comfortable operating in ambiguous environments with minimal guidance.
- Proven ability to challenge assumptions and drive change in complex organizational settings.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to influence senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
