We are recruiting for a Senior Paralegal - Team Leader to manage and supervise a small team of Legal Administrators and support the Operations Manager in our Managed Legal Services (MLS) team in Bristol. As a Senior Paralegal - Team Leader within MLS you will join a growing team that is a key element of the Firm’s “Future Ready” strategy. This is a junior management position overseeing a small team of Legal Administrators and ensuring effective collaboration, task performance, and professional development. Section Leads in MLS provide the critical front line management function ensuring the firm delivers on its obligations to our clients.
Your Role
- Line management of up to 10 Legal Administrators including performance management, career development, discipline and welfare support with HR.
- Actively manage work levels, quality and resources within your Section.
- Monitor and supervise the quality and completion of tasks allocated to your Section workflows ensuring timely completion of tasks and escalating issues.
- Actively monitor Section MI, identify patterns/trends and discuss findings with Project Manager / Legal Lead and MLS Operations Manager.
- Routinely monitoring working methods alongside MLS Operations Manager to identify inefficiencies and areas of risk.
- Taking steps to elevate (considering relevance and impact on wider team).
- Using various management tools and methods, managing work quality, policy compliance and standards, including MI.
- Ensuring supervision meetings and appraisals are conducted.
- Working with MLS Operations Manager and HR to actively manage and improve staff related issues, e.g. poor performance, sickness, absence levels.
- Support the Operations manager to develop talent within the team by identifying individual potential.
- Support the MLS Legal Operations Manager with the training and induction of new starters.
- Take ownership of knowledge management and query log and elevate any queries that require further review.
- Supporting the Operations Manager in recruitment activities including shortlisting and interviewing of candidates.
Your Skills and Experience
- Experience managing tasks in a service delivery industry essential.
- Experience with MS Office software (Outlook, Excel, Word etc) essential.
- Leadership and people management skills and experience of line management essential.
- Good communication skills to articulate information verbally, visually and in writing in a clear, concise fashion so that the key message is understood is required.
- Legal experience preferred.
- Experience with Legal or banking case management systems.
- Experience working in a regulated environment where formal programme governance and controls are required.
