Responsibilities
- Assisting fee earners with the conduct of their cases
- Liaising directly with clients
- Drafting correspondence to clients, the Home Office, and the Tribunal
- Undertaking legal research using a variety of online and reference sources
- Preparing applications on behalf of clients for submission to the Home Office
- Reviewing documents and preparing appeal bundles
- Arranging appointments at UK Visas and Immigration and liaising with visa agents
- General administration tasks
- Managing caseload from start to finish
- Managing a caseload up to a level of accreditation for legal aid work
- Methodically analysing and summarising issues; finding solutions and communicating them effectively
Qualifications
- Willingness to work towards Level 1 and/or Level 2 Immigration Accreditation (training will be provided)
- Degree‑level education with a legal background (e.g., LLB or law‑related degree, or equivalent)
- Ability to formulate detailed legal representations
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and contract targets
- Ability to work independently, prioritise work and take initiative
- Understanding and sensitivity to other cultures and commitment to Equal Opportunities
- Strong ethical standards, team spirit, humility and passion for the work
- Commercial awareness and practical IT skills
- Preference for knowledge of an additional language
- Must be able to commute to the head office in Northenden, Manchester
