Job Responsibilities:
- Respond to incoming calls and inquiries on the Criminal Injuries Helpline promptly and professionally.
- Listen empathetically to callers’ experiences, provide emotional support, and offer relevant legal guidance.
- Collect detailed information from callers regarding their criminal injuries, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Assess the eligibility of callers for compensation and guide them through the claims process.
- Assist callers in completing necessary documentation, ensuring all required information is accurately recorded.
- Collaborate with solicitors and legal professionals to gather additional information and evidence when required.
- Maintain accurate records of all interactions and case details in our case management system.
- Conduct follow‑up calls with clients to provide updates, gather additional information, and address any concerns.
- Stay up‑to‑date with relevant laws, regulations, and procedures related to criminal injuries compensation.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in law, criminal justice, or a related field (preferred).
- Previous experience in a law firm or a helpline role is highly desirable.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise workload effectively.
- Methodical approach to tasks, ensuring attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
- Empathetic and patient demeanour, with the ability to provide emotional support to callers.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, collaborating effectively with solicitors and other staff members.
- Familiarity with legal terminology and procedures related to criminal injuries compensation.
- Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of case management software and MS Office Suite.
