Job Responsibilities:
- Responding to incoming calls and inquiries on the Criminal Injuries Helpline promptly and professionally
- Listening empathetically to callers' experiences, providing emotional support, and offering relevant legal guidance
- Collecting detailed information from callers regarding their criminal injuries, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail
- Assessing the eligibility of callers for compensation and guiding them through the claims process
- Assisting callers in completing necessary documentation, ensuring all required information is accurately recorded
- Collaborating with solicitors and legal professionals to gather additional information and evidence when required
- Maintaining accurate records of all interactions and case details in our case management system
- Conducting follow-up calls with clients to provide updates, gather additional information, and address any concerns
- Staying up-to-date with relevant laws, regulations, and procedures related to criminal injuries compensation
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in law, criminal justice, or a related field (preferred)
- Previous experience in law firm or a helpline role is highly desirable
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise workload effectively
- Methodical approach to tasks, ensuring attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely
- Empathetic and patient demeanour, with the ability to provide emotional support to callers
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, collaborating effectively with solicitors and other staff members
