Job Description:
Reporting to the Head of Procurement, the purpose of the role is to lead and continually improve the formed Procurement department\’s work in providing a top class support function to their ever-changing business. Working as part of the Procurement Team, the Strategic procurement Manager is responsible for the engagement of the business in strategic category plans, indirect category procurement, day to day operational supplier engagement and management. The incumbent will become a trusted advisor to the business on all procurement/commercial matters through delivering year on year value and achievement of goals. The contractor will work to understand the goals of internal functions to help improve efficiency and develop better processes to ensure strategic goals are met.
Your core responsibilities will also include:
Ensuring the team is optimally managed to engage and support business units.
Deploy resources to optimise delivery of value in relation to third party spend, ensuring process and rationale for the selection of suppliers is transparent, auditable and beyond reproach.
Ensure mitigation and management of risks arising from procurement process activity (and internal buying behaviours) thus protecting the business from reputational damage, financial penalties, loss of service or health and safety issues.
Support governance of Supplier Relationship Management with internal and external customers.
Lead identification of new strategic sourcing opportunities and specific market opportunities.
Introduce fresh thinking from other sectors and industries and shape business plans in response to market and industry trends.
Lead high profile/high impact procurement projects when required.
Ensure that all activities are carried out in compliance with Group policies.
Develop and manage a Procurement Centre of Excellence.
Develop and manage the procurement relationship structure and process with key customers and business units, building effective global relationships to manage core, common and distinct requirements.
Provide clear guidance to business on outsourcing requirements and intra-group arrangements in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Be seen as a \’Trusted Advisor\’ to our business customers.
Ensure that local and role specific Treating Customer Fairly requirements are met in line with your key outputs.
To be successful in this exciting contract role, you will:-
Educated to a degree level and/or post-graduate level in a business discipline and/or Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply.
Extensive experience as a senior procurement specialist or senior manager in a commercially driven environment.
Demonstrable track record of implementing and delivering procurement strategies to deliver commercial benefit.
Excellent interpersonal and influencing stakeholder management skills with experience of managing both internal and external senior management relationships.
Excellent negotiation skills are required to deal with a variety of internal customers and suppliers.
Experience of managing a high performing team in a fast paced environment.
Sound business acumen and applied commercial and legal knowledge.
Thorough knowledge of procurement techniques.
Good experience of change and project management.
Innovative thinking.
Previous experience of using the Microsoft Office suite.
