FPSG is working with a leading pharmaceutical company dedicated to developing innovative medicines that improve patient outcomes and enhance quality of life. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Formulation to lead our pharmaceutical formulation team. This is a key leadership role where you will drive the development of robust formulations for our diverse portfolio of pharmaceutical products.
The Director of Formulation will lead a team of formulation scientists and engineers in the development, optimization, and characterization of pharmaceutical formulations. You will be responsible for designing dosage forms that meet target product profiles, ensuring product stability, bioavailability, and manufacturability. This role offers the opportunity to lead innovative projects, collaborate cross-functionally, and drive the successful commercialization of new products.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead and manage the formulation team, providing technical expertise, guidance, and mentorship to achieve project objectives.
- Develop and execute formulation strategies for new drug candidates, considering factors such as solubility, stability, bioavailability, and patient compliance.
- Design and optimize solid dosage forms (tablets, capsules), liquid formulations (solutions, suspensions), and other dosage forms as needed.
- Lead formulation development activities from pre-formulation studies through to commercialization, ensuring timelines and milestones are met.
- Collaborate closely with Analytical Development, Process Development, Regulatory Affairs, and Clinical teams to support product development and regulatory submissions.
- Evaluate and implement novel drug delivery technologies and formulation approaches to enhance product performance and differentiation.
- Lead formulation troubleshooting activities, investigating and resolving formulation-related issues during development and manufacturing.
- Establish and maintain a culture of quality, compliance, and continuous improvement within the formulation team.
- Stay updated on industry trends, scientific advancements, and regulatory requirements related to pharmaceutical formulation.
- PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field. MBA or equivalent business experience is a plus.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in pharmaceutical formulation development, with a focus on solid oral dosage forms.
- Proven track record of leadership in formulation development, including successful commercialization of pharmaceutical products.
- Extensive knowledge of formulation principles, drug delivery technologies, and pharmaceutical development processes.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements (FDA, EMA, ICH) and experience in preparing regulatory submissions for formulations.
- Experience managing and developing high-performing teams, with a focus on talent development and succession planning.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of delivering innovative solutions to formulation challenges.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and with external partners.
