This job involves assisting the Shipping Team with daily tasks at a busy engineering company. You will start with lighter, general admin duties and will be trained to become a competent Shipping Administrator.

As a fully trained team member, you will be able to:

  • Check invoicing accuracy and rectify errors.
  • Ensure manifests are correct for daily shipments and paperwork is prepared for courier collections.
  • Create customs documentation for export shipments using ERP systems and Excel.
  • Book collections via customer web portals and provide ASNs for shipments.
  • Track proof of deliveries when requested.
  • Investigate and correct shipping errors.
  • Check and approve freight invoices using internal tools.
  • Follow processes with Customs Auditors and VAT Inspectors.
  • Liaise with import authorities for shipment clearance.
  • Process and monitor cargo insurance claims.
  • Participate in carrier reviews to optimize transit times and costs.
  • Ensure compliance with internal freight policies.
  • Have in-depth knowledge of HM Customs legal requirements.
  • Operate in customer and freight agent web portals.

This role is based on dayshift hours (0800 to 1600) in Havant and is a long-term, ongoing contract with potential for permanent employment. No formal qualifications are required, though experience in admin, data entry, and compliance is necessary. Knowledge of shipping processes is highly desirable. Starting salary is £14 per hour.
