The Role

As Senior Solicitor, you will take on a key leadership position, managing a team of solicitors and paralegals while overseeing your own caseload. The role requires handling complex cases, particularly in the areas of service charges, ground rent debt recovery, and breaches of covenant in both residential and commercial contexts. You will provide expert legal guidance, manage case progressions, and ensure the team\’s performance meets high standards. Additionally, you will take an active role in the development of junior staff through training and mentoring.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Leading and managing the team of solicitors and paralegals, ensuring effective delegation and performance management.
  • Independently handling complex service charge, ground rent, and possession matters.
  • Providing expert advice on breach of covenant matters and general landlord and tenant issues.
  • Ensuring compliance with court and tribunal deadlines and maintaining high-quality case management.
  • Reviewing claims, assessing defences, and advising clients accordingly.
  • Delivering training and development sessions for junior staff.
  • Maintaining communication with clients, ensuring regular reporting throughout case progressions.
  • Writing legal articles and thought leadership pieces as required.
  • Supporting business development initiatives and promoting the firm\’s expertise in residential landlord and tenant law.

The Person

Our client is seeking a skilled solicitor with at least 5 years PQE in property litigation. You should possess substantial experience in service charges and ground rent debt recovery, with proven leadership ability to manage teams effectively. The ideal candidate will be proactive, able to work under pressure, and demonstrate exceptional organizational skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for fostering collaboration and building relationships with both clients and colleagues.

Essential skills and experience:

  • 5+ years PQE, with experience in service charges and ground rent debt recovery (residential and commercial).
  • Proven leadership experience, effectively managing teams of solicitors and paralegals.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to work independently under pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for client and colleague relationship building.
