We are looking for a proactive and hands-on Maintenance Operative / Facilities Technician to join our friendly and supportive Community team. This role is essential in ensuring our residents enjoy a safe, clean, well-maintained and welcoming living environment at all times. You will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of maintenance, repair and health & safety duties across the property, while delivering excellent customer service to residents, contractors and colleagues. The successful candidate will take pride in maintaining high standards throughout the community and will play an important role in supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the site.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out general repairs and maintenance including plumbing, carpentry, joinery, painting/decorating, lighting maintenance and general building repairs
  • Monitoring electronic maintenance reporting systems and ensuring tasks are completed within agreed timescales
  • Maintaining all common areas, refuse and recycling facilities to exceptional standards of cleanliness and repair
  • Supporting the management of health & safety compliance, statutory testing and site inspections
  • Conducting weekly fire alarm tests, emergency lighting inspections, PAT testing and assisting with fire evacuations
  • Managing maintenance records and documentation in line with company policies and procedures
  • Supervising contractors and suppliers on site, ensuring all RAMS, permits to work and compliance documentation are in place
  • Assisting with key management and maintaining high levels of site security
  • Supporting the upkeep of external grounds and gardens, coordinating external contractors where required
  • Responding to emergency or out-of-hours maintenance issues when necessary
  • Working collaboratively with the Community Manager and wider team to ensure excellent service delivery for residents

Requirements:

Essential

  • Recognised trade qualification such as City & Guilds, NVQ, or Building Crafts Operative qualification
  • Experience carrying out repairs and maintenance within a residential, domestic or construction environment
  • Practical experience in one or more trades including plumbing, carpentry, electrical work or general building maintenance
  • Awareness and understanding of on-site Health & Safety requirements
  • Fluent English verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Desirable:

  • Experience supervising contractors and suppliers
  • Knowledge of statutory compliance testing and record management
  • Experience using electronic maintenance reporting systems such as TCAS or Base360
  • Experience within residential property, student accommodation, Build to Rent or facilities management environments
