Our client is seeking a Handyman to work on a residential estate based in West London. The role of the Handyman is to provide efficient and effective Painter and Handyperson support to the Development, ensuring the security and general maintenance of the buildings and communal areas are maintained in accordance with the required standards.
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8am to 4pm (30 minute lunch break)
Salary: Β£25,000 - Β£27,000 per annum
Main Duties:
- Abide by all Health & Safety and Security procedures when at work.
- Observe safe working practices in carrying out the required duties and ensure that instructions specified by contractors and suppliers are adhered to.
- To clean and maintain electrical fittings, test lighting systems regularly replacing where necessary minor parts such as tubes, bulbs, fuse starters and diffusers, in accordance with working practices.
- To arrange to clear blockages, remove foreign matter from sinks, toilets, drains, kitchen grease traps etc. and clean up spillages as required.
- To ensure that gullies, gutters, drains etc. are kept free from debris and that the development grounds are free of litter.
- To undertake Handyperson duties as directed by the Development Manager or Assistant Development Manager, including:
- Painting and Decorating β as required
- Joinery β first line maintenance of fixtures and fittings, examples: tightening screws on window hinges, maintenance on door handles, minor repairs as a temporary measure, vandalism etc.
- Plumbing β unblocking sinks, traps and waste pipes. Adjustment and replacement of washers for taps etc.
- Leaks β Trace and identify leakages
- Internal Glazing β Remedial action in the event of damage, for example temporary boarding of broken windows
Ideal candidates will have previous Handyman / Estate Maintenance backgrounds, working within a similar environment.
