Power BI Developer Location: London, Chiswick Business Park (up to two days a week working from home) Foxtons is looking for a technically strong Data Analyst to become the go-to Power BI developer within a small, highly technical and highly efficient Business Analytics team. Power BI development will form a large part of the role as we migrate our reporting and analytical models towards Microsoft Fabric. You will be expected to move quickly, respond well to changing priorities and explain the data clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. You will also help create the data foundation for AI-enabled and agentic ways of working. This means making semantic models genuinely usable by AI through strong metadata, clear table, column and measure descriptions, well-defined relationships, reusable measures and governed business definitions. You will have the opportunity to use the wider Fabric ecosystem where it improves the quality, performance or maintainability of the solution. Power BI development and reporting Own the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of a significant Power BI reporting estate. Use DAX and Power Query confidently, applying sound modelling and performance principles. Understand the data and business purpose behind every report you own, and explain its outputs and limitations to end users. Fabric and AI-ready semantic models Contribute to the migration of existing reporting and analytical models into Microsoft Fabric. Use relevant Fabric capabilities to create reliable, maintainable and analyst-friendly data products. Make semantic models ready for AI and natural-language experiences through high-quality metadata and documentation. Design models that can support governed Data Agents and other agentic systems without compromising trust, security or performance. Keep up to date with the latest Power BI and Fabric features, assessing where new capabilities can improve the team’s work. Help identify and deliver practical AI and automation opportunities that reduce manual effort or improve decision-making. Delivery, adoption and quality Train users and improve confidence, adoption and data literacy across the business. Investigate data issues, explain root causes and implement sustainable fixes. Monitor report performance, refresh reliability, data quality and platform usage. Use Git, source control and CI/CD or deployment workflows to support safe and repeatable development across environments. SQL, automation and AI-assisted development Write, understand and improve SQL used to prepare, validate and analyse data. Use AI development tools such as Codex as part of daily development practice to improve speed, quality and repeatability. Use AI tools responsibly to update queries, develop transformations, investigate errors, create documentation and automate repeatable tasks. Validate AI-generated code and outputs rather than accepting them without review. Use Python for data analysis, automation or integration where it adds value; Python is beneficial but not essential. Three to five years of professional experience in data analysis, business intelligence, analytics engineering or a closely related role in an enterprise environment. Strong hands-on Power BI development experience, including report design, DAX, Power Query, semantic models and performance-aware modelling. Strong SQL skills and the ability to investigate data, validate results and identify data-quality issues. Practical experience with Microsoft Fabric, or demonstrable experience with modern Microsoft data platforms and a strong appetite to develop deeper Fabric expertise. Understanding of metadata, documentation, reusable measures, calculation groups and the requirements for AI-ready semantic models. Experience with Git, source control and CI/CD, deployment pipelines or equivalent release-management practices. Evidence of using AI development tools regularly and responsibly to improve personal productivity and delivery quality. Experience with calculation groups, Tabular Editor, deployment pipelines or Power BI APIs. Experience designing models for Power BI Copilot, Fabric Data Agents or other natural-language analytics solutions. Experience with Microsoft Purview, data lineage, certification, metric ownership or data-quality frameworks. Python experience for analysis, automation, API integration or data engineering. Experience using Visual Studio Code, GitHub or Azure DevOps in an analytics development workflow. You combine speed with disciplined testing, documentation and release practices. You are curious about new Power BI, Fabric and AI capabilities and test them pragmatically. You treat data quality, metadata and governance as part of development rather than as an afterthought.
