We are home to famous iconic brands, including Maryland, Fox's, Jammie Dodger & Rocky, to name just a few. We are proud manufacturing partners to some of the biggest UK retailers and household names. We bake our incredible biscuits at eight bakeries across the UK, located at Isle of Arran, Livingston, Blackpool, Llantarnam, Edinburgh, Kirkham, Batley & Dorset and our HQ in St Pauls. Together, we employ circa 4,000 amazing colleagues across all our locations.

As Quality Manager, you will lead and develop the site quality team, ensuring that all products manufactured in our Edinburgh bakery are consistently safe, legal, and meet both internal standards and external customer specifications. You will play a key role in driving a strong quality culture across the site, embedding best practices and maintaining compliance at all times. Working closely with the Technical Manager, you will support site-wide quality initiatives and collaborate with the operations team to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

A core part of your role will be to guide the development and implementation of robust corrective action plans, ensuring that quality issues are effectively addressed and sustainable improvements are delivered.

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance with BRC standards, as well as all customer requirements and partnership codes of practice and specifications.
  • Participate in site (bakery) visits and lead or support internal and external audits.
  • Manage, coach and develop the site Quality Team, driving high performance and engagement.
  • Maintain and continuously improve site quality procedures and SOPs, in alignment with the Quality Systems Manager.
  • Act as a key customer-facing representative during audits, visits and review meetings.
  • Promote and embed a strong quality culture across the manufacturing site, working closely with the Technical Manager and wider teams to drive continuous improvement.
  • Support the delivery of site Technical KPIs, ensuring performance targets are achieved.
  • Lead the development and implementation of robust corrective action plans to address customer or consumer concerns and prevent recurrence.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into internal quality incidents, including any out-of-specification product, and act as the main coordinator for product recall processes when required.
  • Maintain a comprehensive and effective auditing programme that meets the requirements of all internal and external audit bodies.

Who we are looking for

  • Proven experience managing a quality team within a food manufacturing environment, with a strong ability to lead, motivate and drive team performance.
  • Demonstrated capability to identify training and development needs within the quality function, including experience of performance management and disciplinary processes.
  • Strong knowledge of BRC standards and major retailer requirements, with the ability to ensure full compliance with customer codes of practice.
  • Qualified to Food Hygiene Level 4 and HACCP Level 3, with relevant leadership experience and qualifications.
  • Practical experience managing non-conformance systems, including the assessment and disposition of quarantined materials.
  • Proficient in IT systems, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word, with the ability to analyse data and produce meaningful trends and insights.
