Overview
As Business Unit Controller at FBC UK, you drive sustainable, consumer-centric category growth for Tesco Group, aligning annual commitments with profitable outcomes. You lead a cross-functional team to execute omnichannel plans, build senior-level customer partnerships, and translate shopper insight into action. You’ll shape multi-year strategic discussions and pricing/tender strategies to deliver measurable business impact. This role offers scope to influence big-volume accounts within a dynamic, inclusive culture.
Responsibilities
- Manage the Tesco Group team (6) and set performance and development objectives
- Lead a cross-functional sales team collaborating with central functions (category, shopper, supply, demand planning, finance, commercial planning)
- Develop strong internal and external relationships, enabling multi-year planning with Tesco Group
- Act as the voice of the customer to marketing and growth teams
- Lead accurate forecasting and reporting across Tesco Group and share KPIs with stakeholders
- Drive pricing and terms negotiations including multi-year JBP and participate in Retailer Brand tenders where relevant
- Represent customer requirements in internal discussions to support business delivery
Key requirements
- Proven track record of delivering strong customer partnerships and driving business growth
- Solid understanding of commercial P&L management and profit control
- Experience in senior stakeholder management (internal and with customers)
- Tesco experience is preferred but not essential
- Natural leadership with the ability to motivate, challenge norms, and develop a team
- Experience in central commercial functions (category, commercial planning, NRM/RGM, shopper)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
- Highly numerate and IT literate
- Food and snacking experience is advantageous but not essential
