To provide high-quality engineering support to production operations by maintaining, repairing, and improving plant and equipment. The goal is to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime in a fast-paced biscuit manufacturing environment. This role requires a proactive approach to both planned and reactive maintenance, with a strong focus on safety, hygiene, and product quality.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, organize, and develop the shift engineering team to deliver high-quality maintenance and support.
  • Resolve breakdowns swiftly, plan complex tasks effectively, and provide technical input to aid production decisions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, handovers, and records while ensuring compliance with safety and hygiene standards.
  • Represent engineering in control meetings, escalate issues appropriately, and manage team absences and returns.
  • Perform qualified mechanical/electrical tasks and support the ongoing development of team skills.

Qualifications

  • Time-served engineer in mechanical or electrical disciplines.
  • Proven leadership experience in a manufacturing environment (food industry preferred).
  • IOSH certification and food safety/hygiene qualification.
  • Strong understanding of planned maintenance systems (e.g., Shire).
