About the Role: We’ve got an amazing opportunity to join our Batley bakery as a SHE Manager. The SHE Manager is a key member of the Site Leadership Team, responsible for building and embedding a strong Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) culture of compliance across the site. The role drives continuous improvement in SHE performance through strong leadership, coaching, and effective risk management. You’ll ensure compliance with all Health, Safety and Environmental requirements, own site SHE reporting and KPIs, and act as the main point of contact for all regulatory audits and inspections. Working closely with site leaders, the role focuses on reducing accidents, near misses and dangerous occurrences through behavioural safety and culture transformation initiatives. The role also ensures all risk assessments, statutory inspections and action plans are completed and leads the delivery of a robust accident reduction plan supported by the site leadership team.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily SHE inspections, audits, and safety tours, identifying hazards and ensuring timely corrective actions.
  • Maintain, review, and update SHE documentation, ensuring all records, reports, and statutory documentation are completed accurately and on time.
  • Monitor, analyse, and publish SHE performance data and KPIs to the site and wider network.
  • Ensure appropriate PPE is available, correctly used, and effectively managed across the site.
  • Deliver clear and effective SHE communications, including safety alerts, reports, and toolbox talks.
  • Support the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the EHS Management System.
  • Track and close out actions arising from SHE audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
  • Support and facilitate internal and external SHE audits and regulatory visits.
  • Administer the site Risk Assessment database, ensuring reviews are completed and compliance is maintained.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Attend and, where required, lead site SHE and cross-functional meetings.
  • Manage the site EcoLine e-learning system, ensuring training records are accurate and up to date.
  • Deliver site inductions in line with the agreed rota.
  • Carry out additional SHE-related duties as required to support the SHE Manager and site leadership team.

Who we are looking for:

  • IOSH or NEBOSH qualification (or actively working towards).
  • Environmental qualification or evidence of working towards one.
  • Proven SHE / EHS experience within an FMCG manufacturing environment, ideally on a large, high-volume site (500+ colleagues).
  • Strong Continuous Improvement and change management capability, with experience embedding SHE standards in fast-paced, operational settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, challenge, and coach leaders and frontline teams to drive behavioural and cultural change.
  • Excellent communication skills, with confidence delivering SHE messages, toolbox talks, and updates across all levels of the organisation.
  • Strong IT capability, including MS Office and SHE reporting, audit, and incident management systems.
  • Experience supporting or leading SHE audits and regulatory inspections within FMCG manufacturing.
