About The Role

We have an opportunity for a SHE Advisor to join our Llantarnam bakery. This is a hands-on, site-based role reporting directly to the SHE Manager, ideal for someone who is passionate about driving continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental standards within a fast-paced operational environment.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide expert guidance to management and staff on all aspects of SHE legislation, standards, policies, and procedures; act as deputy for the SHE Manager when required.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify hazards and implement preventive measures; develop and review standard operating procedures for existing and new equipment on site.
  • Perform regular site inspections and internal audits to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead or support investigations into accidents and near-misses, determining root causes and recommending corrective actions.
  • Design and deliver SHE training programmes; champion a positive safety culture across all levels of the organisation.
  • Stay up to date with evolving health, safety, and environmental legislation and best practices, ensuring the site remains compliant.
  • Support the SHE department with administrative tasks including report preparation, record maintenance, tracker updates, and policy development.
  • Build strong working relationships with internal teams, management, and external regulatory bodies; attend daily factory review meetings, monthly departmental SHE meetings, and site-wide SHE meetings.
  • Assist with departmental financial processes by raising purchase orders and maintaining budget tracking spreadsheets.

Who We Are Looking For

  • NEBOSH General Certificate.
  • ISEP (IEMA) Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management or NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate.
  • Professional membership with IOSH (GardIosh or above).
  • Ideally experience with heavy industrial equipment.
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar SHE/H&S role within a large site is preferred.
