Foxley Talent are working with a new client, a well established B2B Sales Technology business building a complex, high traffic platform used by a large and engaged professional user base. Due to continued growth, they are looking to hire a Senior Backend Engineer with strong Python and Django experience.
The successful Senior Backend Engineer will join a delivery focused product and engineering team responsible for building and evolving core platform functionality. This is a backend leaning role, but engineers are encouraged to work across the stack where appropriate. The organisation places a strong emphasis on ownership, collaboration, and transparency. Engineers are trusted to take responsibility for their work end to end, from early technical discussions through to production delivery and continuous improvement.
What You Will Be Doing
- Designing and delivering backend services and APIs using Python and Django
- Supporting new user facing features across a large scale web platform
- Working closely with product, design, and stakeholders to shape solutions from the outset
- Owning features through the full development lifecycle including design, delivery, monitoring, and iteration
- Contributing to long term technical direction and platform improvements
- Working in a CI backed environment with a strong focus on quality and maintainability
- Using modern development practices and tooling to ship efficiently
- Collaborating within small teams operating in structured delivery cycles
Skills and Experience
- Strong experience building backend heavy systems using Python
- Commercial experience with Django or similar Python web frameworks
- Experience using frontend technology including TypeScript and React
- Solid understanding of how modern web applications work end to end
- Experience designing and maintaining APIs and backend data models
- Strong appreciation for code quality, correctness, and data integrity
- Comfortable working with Git and CI workflows
- Experience working in remote or distributed teams
- A pragmatic mindset focused on shipping value
Nice to Have
- Experience working on SaaS or large scale web platforms
- Strong PostgreSQL and relational database experience
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs and GraphQL
- Experience with Docker and cloud based deployment environments
- Any background working with professional services platforms
Environment and Benefits
This is a remote first role with asynchronous working practices. Candidates should be based within the UK. The salary on offer is £70,000-£90,000 pa.
