Foxgroves Recruitment is delighted to be supporting our partner Precision HR with their first salaried appointment. Since launching in early 2024 they've built a client base of 60+ SMEs and charities across Cumbria and beyond, and a run of new recent contract wins means it's time to bring someone into the business properly, working closely with the Managing Director and the existing associate team.

Precision HR are not a box-ticking consultancy. The advice they give is practical, commercial, and occasionally the thing a business owner would rather not hear. That's the job. They're serious about people, pragmatic about solutions, and human at heart.

You'd also be joining a genuinely well-rounded, experienced team. Alongside the core HR offering sits a recruitment specialist covering HR, senior appointments and business support, a senior HR consultant handling investigations, grievances and disciplinaries, a neurodiversity workplace specialist delivering assessments and practical adjustment planning, and an L&D practitioner working on leadership, team effectiveness and culture. They have also welcomed a new part-time Operations Support Coordinator just last month so this really is an exciting period of growth. Clients get a complete talent solution, and you get specialists around you rather than working in isolation.

Two Levels, One Role

Precision HR want the right person for where the business is right now, so they're open at two levels and the salary reflects that.

  • If you're already experienced in employee relations, currently sitting at Senior HR Advisor, HR Manager or HR Consultant level and ready to take full ownership of clients and complex casework from day one, this is the top end of the band.
  • If you're earlier in your career and looking for the right place to develop, you'll be considered too. You'd start at the lower end of the band with a clear path to senior level, real support behind you, and exposure to a broader range of businesses than most in-house roles could offer.

Be honest about where you are and we'll have a straight conversation about the level and the money.

The Role

You'll take real ownership of a portfolio of clients and become the person they trust with the things that matter.

  • Advising clients
    • Act as the day-to-day HR contact for your own portfolio, building relationships fast and keeping them.
    • Give clear, commercially grounded advice to business owners and managers, including the advice they don't want to hear.
    • Coach managers through people issues so they grow in confidence over time.
  • Employee relations and casework
    • Manage casework end to end across disciplinary, grievance, performance, absence and investigations.
    • Support clients through restructures, redundancies and TUPE where required.
    • Keep clients on the right side of employment law without hiding behind policy.
  • Contracts, policies and compliance
    • Draft and review contracts, handbooks and policies.
    • Keep client documentation current as legislation moves, including the Employment Rights Bill.
    • Spot risk early and deal with it before it becomes a problem.
  • Working with the wider team
    • Work alongside the recruitment, neurodiversity and L&D specialists to give clients a joined-up service.
    • Contribute to how the business grows, not just how it runs.

You'll Flourish if You Have

  • Employee relations experience, whether that's several years of it or a strong grounding you're ready to build on.
  • The confidence to advise business owners directly and the reasoning to back it up when challenged.
  • A self-starter's instinct - this is a growing independent business, not a large HR function.
  • The discipline to work well remotely and the appetite to get out and see clients when it counts.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK employment law.
  • CIPD qualified or working towards it.
  • A full UK driving licence.

This isn't a role for someone who wants to hide behind a policy.

Why You'll Love Working Here

  • Salary of £35,000 – £50,000 depending on experience and level.
  • Predominantly home-based, with flexible working built around client and business need.
  • Regular client visits across Cumbria and the surrounding area, so no daily commute.
  • Business Head Office in West Cumbria so occasional face-to-face meetings with MD will be required.
  • Genuine variety with 60+ clients across sectors, no two weeks the same.
  • A real say in shaping the next phase of a growing business rather than slotting into something already fixed.
  • An experienced specialist team around you and the support and guidance from a highly experienced MD - you will learn a lot working for this entrepreneurial HR Guru!
  • 25 days plus 8 bank holidays plus your birthday day off as an additional day off.
  • Pension - 5% employer contribution.
  • Real flexibility on offer - we will consider 4 days per week, full time or willing to discuss hours to suit for the right person.
