As a Team Leader at Foxglove, you will play an essential role in delivering high-quality care and support in line with Foxglove's policies and procedures. Your leadership will be central in creating a positive and empowering environment for service users, ensuring that their choices and independence are respected. You will lead, manage, and support a dedicated team of Support Workers, ensuring they have the skills, knowledge, and support needed to perform their roles effectively. You will also assist the Area Registered Manager in managing the day-to-day operations of the service, providing vital reports and taking necessary actions as required.
Main Duties- Service User Support:
- Ensure that service users are at the heart of all decisions regarding their care, promoting independence and respecting individual preferences.
- Develop, implement, and regularly evaluate person-centered care plans in consultation with service users, family, professionals, and advocates.
- Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary and multi-agency teams to deliver holistic care.
- Safely administer and audit medication, ensuring compliance with company and legal standards.
- Follow safeguarding procedures and respond appropriately to concerns or allegations of abuse.
- Participate in the on-call rota, providing support during unsociable hours when required.
- Assist the Area Registered Manager with Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) and capacity assessments.
- Team Leadership And Staff Management:
- Support the Registered Manager in day-to-day staff management, ensuring the team is well-equipped and motivated.
- Induct new staff members, ensuring they meet the required standards before completing their probationary period.
- Develop an effective, competent team through regular supervision, appraisals, and coaching.
- Provide regular feedback on individual performance and manage poor performance as required.
- Help manage recruitment, training, and staff development, including identifying training needs and providing constructive feedback.
- Ensure that team meetings are scheduled regularly, fostering open communication and collaborative working.
- Assist with staff rotas and payroll, ensuring these are completed accurately and on time.
- Operational Support:
- Monitor all aspects of health and safety within the service, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Develop and maintain infection control and cleaning schedules to ensure a high standard of care.
- Support the Registered Manager in ensuring the service meets regulatory requirements and essential safety standards.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and maintenance of quality assurance systems.
- Ensure that key worker meetings are completed monthly and that the day-to-day running of the service meets the needs of service users.
- Essential Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 in Social Care (or equivalent) or working towards.
- Experience: Previous experience in managing and supporting a team within a care setting. Experience of developing and implementing care plans, risk assessments, and management plans. Familiarity with multi-agency working and liaising with external professionals.
- Knowledge: Good understanding of safeguarding and mental capacity laws, including the Mental Capacity Act and DoLS. Familiarity with essential safety standards and compliance. Knowledge of staff training, progression, and personal development plans. Awareness of company procedures, policies, and legislative requirements.
- Skills: Strong leadership and team-building skills. Excellent time management and organizational abilities. Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and work under pressure. Strong coaching, mentoring, and performance management skills. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Competent IT skills and the ability to manage reports and documentation.
- Behaviours: Flexible and willing to participate in the on-call rota system (including unsociable hours). Ability to remain calm and professional in difficult situations. A commitment to leading by example, maintaining confidentiality, and fostering an open and approachable environment. Enthusiastic and committed to personal and professional development.
